For the past one year, Ramesh Aravind has been busy with his film Nam Anna Bond. "This is the fifth film that I am acting and directing, but this time I also wrote the script, so it feels good to be completely involved with a project," says Ramesh, who's completing post-production work for the film.
Nam Anna Bond, adds Ramesh, is a complete entertainer, which he promises will be a laugh riot for audiences. "It is a comedy about a cardiac surgeon, played by me, who believes that healthcare is of utmost importance and that making money out of it can wait. His boss, on the other hand, wants to rake in the moolah. There are several instances in their interactions that are hilarious. The highlight, though, will be the character of a don and his nitwit sidekicks. There's also a sugar-coated message about healthcare," explains Ramesh.
Rumour has it that even before the film's release, Ramesh is contemplating remaking it in other languages, with good buddy Kamal Haasan working in the Tamil version. "That is a possibility, but nothing's confirmed yet. When I finished my film, I gave Kamal a copy of it. We normally exchange our work and seek constructive criticism. Kamal's just finished two schedules of Viswaroopam, so I am not sure if he's had time to see my film, but I always maintained that Nam Anna Don deserves a national audience. In fact, before I started shooting for the film, I had shown Boney Kapoor the script. I intend to give him a copy of the film too, now that it is ready. The don's role is very interesting and can easily have a big actor essay it," says Ramesh.
Now that his film is ready for release, Ramesh is back to taking up acting jobs. "Normally, I do about five to six films a year. But with Nam Anna Bond, I did nothing but that for one whole year. I have signed up for two projects now, Tunturu and the remake of the Tamil film Azhagi," he says.
Ramesh, who celebrates a silver jubilee in films this year, maintains that the past 25 years have been creatively very satisfying. "I wait for my day to start to get busy with some film-related activity. The excitement continues and there's a certain high that the fanfare and creative surge gives you. I am very happy acting directing and even hosting a show on TV. But directing is the ultimate — it's the second best job after God's and I look forward to donning that cap soon enough," he signs off.
