From a different pov, these wive's got such husbands due to their bad karmas, which may make them a widow soon. Or if a husband is enjoying fruits of his wife's good karmas then the wife is suffering because of her husband's bad karmas, who is a devotee of God. The husband is a king here, a high position in life, has achieved it due to his good deeds of past lives, so a good virtuous, wife is also a result of those good deeds. But due to major bad influences he has chosen a different path, which increases his sins gradually resulting in his death or very big punishment. The wife's life also changes after that, she is either way suffering due to different reasons but since she is a devotee, God takes care of her.
