Ahem just brought Gopi back from the hospital today. He had spent most of the last two weeks with her in the hospital. Especially the first to nights had been terrible. The doctors had told them that Gopi's life was in danger and that they couldn't tell, if she will make it or not. He had sat next to her hospital bed the whole night. Holding her hand and hoping that she will wake up soon and look at him with her big round eyes. Looking as always shy, happy and warmly at him while blushing. But she hadn't opened her eyes then. 'What will I do, if she doesn't wake up? No ahem don't think about it! She will be fine. She must!!' he had thought and struggled with himself to stay positive. His mum has been there very often, too. Ahem could again see how deep the relationship between his mother and his wife was. He was touched by it but felt bad about it, too. Gopi was his wife and still she had a closer relationship with his mother instead of him. He realise that he was jealous of his mother for being so close with Gopi and not the other way around as it has been at the beginning of their marriage. 'When did my feelings change so much?' he wondered. However just then he felt a light pressure on the hand, which was holding Gopi's. Quickly he got up and leaned over her. "Gopi? Gopi? Can you hear me?", he was asking her in a quiet voice. Gopi's eyelids were fluttering and then she opened them. Confusing and then recognition were passing emotions in her eyes until they were replaced by a affectionate look she was giving Ahem. "Ahemji" she whispered. Unknown feelings were cursing through Ahem's body as he saw the depth of feeling for him in her eyes. For a second he had the urge to take her into his arms. But he resisted due to the fact that Gopi still was heavily injured and he didn't want to hurt her. "Are you okay Ahemji?" Gopi asked him after a moment of silence. She wondered why he didn't speak to her. Also was it his hand, which was holding her so lovingly? 'She is asking, if I am okay, while she is lying in a hospital bed for so long fighting for her life' he couldn't comprehend her goodness but decided at this moment that he would do everything to make sure she will be save and happy. "I am fine" he told her, because he didn't want her to worry about him right now but about herself. He called the doctors, who sent him out of the room for them to examine her. He had used the time to call home and tell everyone that Gopi was awake.
After that he had spent his days sitting next to her and talking to her or watching her sleep. Especially in the first week after she woke up the first time she had slept a lot. The doctors had told him that this was normal and actually needed for recovery. In this time he had got to know her so much better. Also their relationship has gotten better. Gopi didn't look as worried anymore, when he was near her or talked to her. She smiled much more at him now. And he was honest enough to himself to know that he really liked that fact.
Now finally Gopi was home again. She has walked from the care with his mum support to the stairs but has then been too tired to walk upstairs. Ahem hadn't hesitated for a second and had picked her up in his arms and carried her to their room. Gopi had become really red and was trying her best to hide her face from him through looking down and pulling her pallu between them. 'I have to do something about this stupid pallu' he had thought then. In their room he had put her carefully on the bed. His mum had pulled back the cover and his kaki hand moved the pillows in a way, which would be comfortable for Gopi. They moved around her really carefully because she still had a lot of pains. However it was getting better and better. Because it was already evening by the time they had reached home Ahem asked his mum and kaki to leave so that Gopi could rest. He wanted to stay with her to make sure that she was alright. "Ahemji if you want you can go as well. I will be fine. I really feel much better now." Gopi's voice could be heard from behind him. He told her to not be stupid and stayed in the room. The journey from the hospital had exhausted Gopi and that is why she fell asleep soon after Kokila and Hetal left the room. Ahem set on the sofa next to the bed and was working on his laptop while checking on her every few minutes. After a while he noticed that she become restless in her sleep. He got up to have a closer look. Carefully he felt her forehead to make sure that she wasn't running a high temperature. However to his concern he noticed that her forehead was really hot. That is why he got a small bowl with cold water and one of his handkerchiefs out. Because he had to change these ever so often he moved from his couch to the bed and set next to her. The fever wasn't going down so quickly so Ahem had to stay up half of the night to look after her. Around 3 o'clock in the morning he fell asleep next to her. During the early morning hours gopi had moved nearer to ahem and had started to use his arm as a pillow. As the morning sun rouse both of them they noticed how close they had gotten to each other. Gopi's body was pressed tightly against ahem's and her head had moved from his arm to his chest, were it was resting now. To shocked to move she looked at him with her big beautiful eyes. Giving up Ahem carefully pulled her even closer to him and kissed her softly on her forehead. Gopi's breath faltered and she blushed bright red too her roots. Ahem chuckled and leaned over her.
