Arnav - Why are you the way you are! Extremely complex and complicated.
Guess this provides only the fabric and it shall be woven later (the reasoning for his scars and pain will unfold eventually)
1) He lost his parents very early - extremely difficult to handle esp if cause of death is unnatural!
2) He despises his dad and tries very hard never to mention him. The mysterious reason seems like the existence of another woman in his dad's life. (genuine or not; not known right now - more points for the later)
3) This is perhaps one of reasons he doesn't believe in marriage. What did his mom get out of her marriage - a heart ache, mental torture leading to death! (and depending on when he finds out about his sisters marriage could just make things worse)
4) And with his disturbed and demented state he figures out his paternal side of the family literally disinherits him and his sister!
5) In retaliation he renounces his surname and becomes a Raizada, hence his journey as ASR begins ...
6) Emotions, feelings and affections are words with no meaning to him. He SHIELDS and SHELLS himself and nothing affects him. His pains grow deeper with time!
7) He is an introvert and his inner desires are always suppressed. He is always in disguise. Never able to clearly express what he feels. If the person in front is senses it and picks it up fine and well otherwise he has the "I really don't care attitude".
8) The only emotion he exhibits is ANGER. His other subtle emotions are only reserved for his sister.
9) Only money bears some meaning to him. He earns so much of it that he goes back and buys his childhood dream (house) but that just serves as a showcase not a home anymore! He can look at it but not step inside.
10) He infatuates himself into believing that he is the creator of his destiny. And with money on his side there is nothing that cannot be bought.
11) With money to his name he secretly loves to do charity - to hospitals; to an ailing fathers little daughter so she can smile; even to annoying Khushi unwell father. His donations see no discrimination, nor do they desire an acknowledgment.
12) He doesn't believe in GOD. After all, how can a person suffer so much in one lifetime? (But time will come when he will realize that when God takes from one hand he gives from another -God tests his most dear ones the most)
13) He loves his Di the most ... so much that he sees his mom in her - it's beautiful. She is the only person who has any sort of right on him. He could take on the world for her. And her ill health and sadness adds to his misery.
14) He somewhere believes that poor girls pin down rich guys and cling to them for their money. Maybe this is one of the reasons he willing accepted Lavanya as his girlfriend. Lavanya is not with him for his money; she doesn't answer him back; no questions asked! He knows Lavanya doesn't truly understand him but the fact the he gets his way around her is enough for him - he can live with that.
15) For him ... Khushi Kumari Gupta is - what the hell; who the hell! She fights, dares, lashes, disagrees, talks back, calls him names, apologizes, cares, laughs, jokes, dances, expresses her feelings, cries, taunts !! She is totally alive! He can't totally comprehend her and it bothers him, both without parents yet poles apart.
16) He is totally mesmerized by her, her qualities, her strength, her determination, her courage -they all play on his mind all the time. The world he has created around him is shaking falling apart because of her and he isn't liking that. But little does he realize that this the only way he to enter another beautiful world that's awaits him!
His behavior lately as I see it is ... stems from the fact that when he had just announced his engagement the next thing he realized was that she went right ahead and got engaged to someone else (so he thinks). He says something and she runs along and does that - now how can he digest that; after all it hurts! So he goes on and picks on the money (its an easy give away for him) and taunts her till she weeps and he bleeds!
It's a bit of pride, a bit ego on his part that he is using the idea of jealously to pave way for her feelings to pour out. He doesn't want to be the first one or maybe he doesn't know how to - he never has. Remember pride is ingrained in him and he thinks what if she rejects me (not that she doesn't feel that way about him) but just out of some false pride of hers or as some sort of revenge or just fear. Rejection might just be to difficult to handle for "THE ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA".
He doesn't substantiate that when love enters everything else is thrown out the window. It's going to take some time for him to break the shield and come out of his shell. And he eventually will.
A special mention: Barun Sobti is detailed as in actor in every department! His soulful and bedroom eyes are totally intoxicating. But his sideburns are detrimental esp to me ... never seen an immaculate pair before makes him look almost flawless!!
