Chapter 5 Part 1

(I am dividing it into two parts since it is pretty big)

As Kria was coming out of the store, she saw a poster on the side wall. It was a banner promoting 'All Star Dance Competition.' The audition date and the judge's names were on the right corner while a girl/boy picture was there in the middle with a missing face and a question mark in its place.

Taking it as a coincidence, she sat in her car and drove away.

Sonia: "Rahul, you have to help me!"

Rahul replied, "No Sonia. You know it would upset her a lot if you ask for this. Go ahead if you want tp. But I am definitely not getting involved."

Sonia protested, "But'" Rahul interrupted and explained further, 'Listen Sonia. I know you want to help her. But I am no part of it. Trust me, I want the same. Tough not in this manner. I have to get back to duty. Bye." The call came to an end.

*FLASHBACK*

First day of college for Kria and she met Neha. They instantly jelled and became good friends. Neha said, "So now you know about Dazzlers and Weaklings." To which Kria answered, "This is just plain silly! Everyone should have equal say. Talent isn't based on just this!!"

A voice behind them said, "Oh really? Now a fresher will preach about talent?!" it was none other than Sharon.

Kria replied back, "Speak with respect. I'm just telling my opinion."

Neha whispered to her tugging at her elbow, "Quiet Kria. This is the 'The Sharon' you talking to."

Kriya replied in a normal voice, "So what? She's famous for being rich? Then it doesn't matter because it's not 'her' money. It's her dad's.

Sharon gaped. She pointed her index finger at her, "Hey freshie! Listen, don't you talk about my dad. What are you so proud of huh?"

Kriya retorted, "I am proud of lots of things."

Sharon said, "Prove it. Lots of things huh? I challenge you to dance. Show me you're better." She stood hands across her chest with Rinni and Simmi on either side.

Kriya replied with a stern look. "Don't say later on that you regret it."

Sharon: "We'll see who says that."

Kriya: "After school?"

Sharon: "See you in the auditorium."

Kriya slammed on the break which brought her back from flashback mode. She gave a 'phew' sigh as she didn't crash into anyone. Turning into the drive way, she got out and carried the bags in. Kriya shouted, "Sonia?"

A faint voice replied, "I am out here." She was in the screened patio sitting on the chair. As Kriya came in, she said, "Thinking about you only'" Kriya sat beside her and repeated, "Me?" Sonia looked at her and said in a serious note, "Yea. You have changed a lot! I miss the old Kriya, her K-Effect, the charm, and everything."

Kriya walked out after saying, "Sonia, what are you saying." She entered the living room and sat on the couch pulling her legs up to escape from the cold carpet. Sonia plopped on the couch as well and continued, "Do you even remember the old you? Cuz I surely do! That passion, the glow on your face'confidence'confidence and passion to do something'to prove something to the world'dancing'living to dance and dancing to live. Everything you did made me instantly become friends with you apart from the fact that we were already' Never mind our relationship but don't you miss that Kriya?"

"Please. How many times do we have to go through this?" Kriya said.

Sonia yelled with low voice, "Until you realize it!! You're stubborn and the one who always does what she wants to. But for once, let go of it. Try and see! There's always hope."

Sonia turned to her, "Ok what do you want?"

Sonia got confused. "Huh?"

Kriya replied, "You always start lecturing me on this topic when you want something big."

Sonia got mad. "You realize that but not my point!!!"

Kriya said while going to the kitchen, "Just come out with it, alright?"

"You want me to tell you?" Sonia followed. "Fine. This." (She held out the advertise pamphlet of All Star Dance Competition) Kriya turned around and saw it. Her eyes went wide and gave Sonia a look. Before Kriya could say a word, Sonia stated, "This is what I want. I want you to audition for it. Both of us know you love dancing. We also know that if you audition, then there's no stopping you to becoming the winner. Not even he can. He probably knows it better than both of us. Please Kriya, listen to me once. Audition! You won't regret it."

After getting no response from her, Sonia made her sit down on the corner by the window. Putting her hand around her shoulder, she started in calmer voice than before. "Kriya, I know why you are not doing this. Because of what happened. It's what he did. Don't make yourself suffer. He's the culprit of your start. Make him suffer! I know it will hurt. But make yourself strong. Aren't you the one who told me to face my fears? Apply the same thing to yourself. Just audition and leave rest up to God. He's up there looking at everything. Don't steal the happiness he is giving to you. Dance is the one and only thing that reaches up to you like nothing ever. Let it touch you one last time. I won't force you to continue after. Just audition. That's all I am asking for."

All along, Kriya was listening and looking at her with calm posture and an understanding face. She knew Sonia only meant good and the best for her. This was going to be hard! She knew it was the right choice to give it one chance. As Sonia said'one last chance if nothing more. But nothing less. But seeing him? Even after five years, was she ready? She asked herself that. The pain it had caused her heart was still unhealed. Giving dance one last chance would mean seeing him one more time. That was something she thought she is still not ready for.
