Chapter Ten
Patience is Virtue
The engagement had gone according to plan, the whole time Gopi was kept on edge constantly trying to grip her fear, and at times avoiding to even cross paths with Ahem, and after the scene shared in the bathroom with him her eyes hadn't dared to meet his.
Although he hadn't made it any easier for her to escape him, as he'd made sure that wherever it was that she stood, he sure made his presence visible to her.
"Don't think I don't know what you're playing at Gopi, I know you're trying to avoid me, but I won't let that happen" he said as he winked at her, leaving her behind shell-shocked and speechless.
"Gopi, why does Ahem Ji keep hovering around you?" Rashi asked the second she found her alone.
"Rashi Behen I don't know what you're talking about, I, he, we'we were just er, talking and he was, he got, he was shocked to find me there, and I er, I didn't know what to say, which is when you came" she said finally catching her breath, and not realising that she was asking what he was talking to her about a few minutes ago.
"Are you telling the truth?" Rashi questioned back, not buying her explanation as one based on realistic terms. Gopi had made a quick excuse that someone had been looking for her and escaped her cousin's firing round of quesiotns the very next second. "Somethings definitely fishy, I just know - but what? I'll have to find out, but first let me tell Mummee."
"Gopi come sit at the dining table and have your dinner on one side, away from the rest of the guests where you can take some rest too" said Hetal.
"No I'm fine Kaki, I'm not hungry."
"Of course you are," she gestured back placing a blessed touch over her cheek, she hauled her over to the dining table and plated her food for her. "Just eat a little dikhra, for me."
Gopi smiled at her Mother-in-law and looked down at the plate full of food. Her appetite had gone down the drain since the earlier incident, but how could she expect anyone else to understand. She broke a small bite and force-fed herself, when her lip had let off a sharp pulsing sting from the chili in the food, she hissed from the heat and the throbbing sting, while she scanned the table for water, but couldn't find any. The kitchen was nearby and so ran off to find some relief there instead, a cold bottle of water was kept in the fridge. She drank it at once and dipped her finger in it to sprinkle it over her lip to cool it from the heat.
"Gopi what are you doing here?" Jigar asked, surprised to find her in their kitchen, "if you wanted water you should have called for Mani, she would have gotten it for you."
"It's okay Jigar Ji, I didn't realise the food had so much chili in it, I should have been more careful."
"The food was too chili? That's strange, the food in our house is always kept a little mild than normal," he queried.
"Oh Jigar, good I found you here!" Said a third and familiar voice, Gopi immediately lowered her eyes and turned away to avoid any contact, knowing who it was.
"Why Bhai what happened, was there something you wanted?" asked Jigar.
"No not me, Kaka was looking for you, I think he needed to ask you about a client you made a business deal with last week, as he is here at the ceremony outside, and wanted to discuss a few things with you very quickly." His eyes went over to Gopi, "what is she doing here" he asked Jigar almost acting like he barely knew her.
"Oh she needed some water that's all" Jigar informed.
Gopi's shoulders had tensed up as she refused to even stand in the path that lead in Ahem's direction, "relax Gopi he's just my brother, he won't bite" Jigar added in the hope of making her more relaxed around Ahem.
"I might" Ahem warned in response adding further humour to Jigar's statement. Gopi clutched onto the bottle top in her nervousness not knowing what else she could do, "I'm kidding Gopi, Ji" he added, making her look at him in shock of hearing her name with the addition of 'Ji' after it and that too by Ahem. He knew she was aware of what he meant, but he wanted to remind her that just because he'd let Jigar put a ring around her finger didn't mean that he was letting her go, as she may have been lead to believe as he didn't stop the engagement from carrying on, but he hadn't had any intention of acting hastily, he knew he needed to think of a smarter way round this problem, but in the meantime it was his duty to constantly drop her a reminder that he hadn't given up on her.
"Are you okay now?" Jigar asked before he left.
"Yes, I'm fine thank you" Gopi said at the pace of light.
"Are you okay?" Ahem repeated after Jigar, "why what happened?" He asked this time in concern and came a little closer, making Gopi simultaneously take two steps back. Ahem stopped as soon as he'd realised how frightened Gopi really was of letting off the slightest hint about the two of them.
"There was too much chili in the food for her, and that's why she came here as she was fetching herself some water" said Jigar as he pointed at Gopi and than noticed her lip which seemed to have something that looked reddish and was starting to turn scabby at one corner of her bottom lip, "Gopi your lip is bleeding, how did that happen, did something bite you?"
"Or someone?" Ahem added.
Gopi looked at Ahem in shock, her face had felt like it was burning at a hundred degrees which had illuminated an aura of scarlet red all over her face.
"Bhai!" Jigar signalled with his eyes, who was busy staring at Gopi with a satisfied smile, "Bhai!" He said again, this time Ahem looked at him, just to show that he was listening, "you're making her blush!"
"It's not he first time" he muttered lightly trailing his eyes down to her sore lip where he'd bitten her.
"What? Did you say something Bhai, I didn't hear it."
"Erm no nothing, I just said that it must've been something that had good taste, surely."
Jigar was rather embarrassed at his brother's remarks, he would often joke in such ways, but not with girls like Gopi, she was too shy and naive to be prey to Ahem Bhai's jokes.
"Er Gopi don't worry about Bhai, he's always like this, he cant' help it," he said throwing a look to him; telling him to agree.
"Yeah, yeah of course, I couldn't help it" he agreed, knowing he and Jigar were talking about two different things entirely.
Gopi could see from one side that the whole time they had discussed the bite on her lip, Ahem had a smirk over his face that he couldn't wipe off even if he'd wanted to. Jigar had left soon after, and Gopi tried to follow as fast as she could.
"Gopi!" Ahem called back, she stopped but didn't turn. "If you blush so much, you're gonna bring the death of me you know that." He said without looking to her, she turned her head half way but didn't respond and quickly left.
Ahem grinned to himself, knowing he was making it impossible for her to avoid her feelings for him.
Hetal had ordered Jigar to take all the auspicious gifts that were given to Gopi and Anita and have them placed in their separate cars on their journeys home. Two journeys had to be made to Urmila Behen's house as they needed to be dropped off home because they hadn't come in their own car, and Nikhil who they had arrived with, had already left early due to some other reasons.
Ahem had told Anita that he wouldn't be able to accompany her home as he had a headache and was planning on an early night, his reasons were evident as petty excuses, but for some strange reason she didn't want to argue, which was Ahem's intention. "Er Anita, you know you've got to give those kangan back right?" He asked.
"What these ones?" She asked shaking the four thick heavy looking ancient style bangles before him, "you're Mother never said anything about it to me when she handed them to me."
"Yeah that's because she told me to remind you" he said, taking her wrists and removing them for her.
"Ouch Ahem, Jesus, I'll take them off myself, there's no need to be aggressive about it" she said, removing the bangles and handing them back to him, "if that was the case, then what was the point in giving them to me the first place" she complained.
"Ain't you ever heard of formalities?" He said sarcastically, "it's just to show in front of the guests and make it look all official, after that it has to go back to where it came from" he delighted as he looked at them and imagined them on Gopi's wrists.
"Fine-whatever, it doesn't bother me, they're too old fashioned for me anyway" she said rolling her eyes and twisting her lips, "so are you going to bid me with a loving kiss Ahem or do I really have to ask you myself." While Anita was talking he saw Gopi standing across the road waiting to leave with the rest of her family members too, Jigar was loading the stuff into the cars that was arranged to drop them, and Anita's words were barely reaching his ears.
"Sorry what, er yeah, whatever you want" he replied not removing his gaze from Gopi.
"Now that's like my Ahem" she smiled contently, looking around just in case his Mother was lurking around somewhere, ready to tell her off for how ignorant she was towards the eyes of society and blah blah blah, she reached up to give him a long peck on his lips. Ahem was taken off guard and by the time Anita had freed him, he saw Gopi's eyes frozen on the two of them and all he could do was stare back with guilt. "Damn" he whispered, as he cursed himself for letting Gopi see him and Anita like that. That was hardly going to get him points in her books in convincing her about him. "Erm Anita, you better get going, I've got this terrible headache, and I just remembered that Mom was looking for me."
"Okay darling, you get some rest" she said stroking his cheek, and pecking him on his cheek again.
"Anita, please, people are looking" he scolded.
"Okay fine, but I can't help it, you're such a good kisser, I can barely keep my lips away from yours." She said circling her arms around his neck.
"Anita please!" He hissed again, this time watching Gopi leave from there. She was pissed off, no doubt about it he thought, all his efforts for the day were ruined thanks to this clingy Anita!
"We're all ready to go Jigar Ji, shall we sit in the car?" Asked Rashi.
Jigar had told her and her family to sit in the car, while he looked for Gopi who had disappeared a short while ago. "Gopi is sitting in the other car" Rashi informed as the back seats of both of the cars were full of gifts and confectionery so they had to split up. Urmila Behen and Rashi were sitting in the car Jigar was driving, and the second car was being driven by a driver.
Jigar was hesitant about it at first, but then saw that Rashi had looked rather disappointed when his concern was only visible toward Gopi, and that was not true, not entirely; he had to take care of Gopi as his Mother had specifically asked him to do so.
Everyone was almost ready to leave. Nobody had noticed Gopi sitting alone in the second car alone, her attempt to hide there and cry was successful to some extent, she couldn't wait to get home, where she could let her heart express it's regret openly. It was only a short while ago when he had just proposed to her, and ready to take on the world for her, but only a few minutes ago he was resting comfortably in Anita Ji's embrace; why did he make a fool of her; why couldn't he just let her be!
Pain from the hurt she witnessed had gotten the better of her, she was unable to keep herself in order, her heart had already broken down and her tears were slowly beginning to crumble her confidence from the outside. She wished that she could just run away for the night to some place far from here, that would never remind her of him again, but she knew that was impossible, his single touch had filled it's presence in her soul, she couldn't escape him. Escaping him would mean running away from herself, and there was no place on Earth where she could leave herself behind, except with him.
The family members had stood in the drive to bid farewell, just when Kokila had noticed the second car with Gopi, Panna and her Mama Ji being escorted by their driver. "Mota Bhabi, where is Ahem, he should have been informed that one of the two cars were to be driven by him, that is no way to treat our guests! We can't let out house Bahu go alone with so much gifts and jewelry with a simple driver."
"You're right Kokila, but I think Ahem had gone to drop off Anita" answered Hetal in regret, "but don't worry Kokila, Gopi's Mama Ji is with her, so she is not alone."
"It's okay Mom, I'm here and I understand everything, I'll drive this car." He said knocking on the car window and switching places with the driver.
When Gopi had seen Ahem, her posture had tensed up, she was surprised and agitated by the fact that Ahem was their escort. Matters had worsened when she had noticed Ahem's consistent attention on her in the rear view mirror. She avoided his look during the whole journey, while trying hard to stop the tears from running down her face.
Her eyes were red with soreness, she didn't even meet his eyes once, her attention was on Panna who'd slept in her lap while she stroke her hair.
Her cheeks were red now, but not by blushing this time, it was from the continuous irritation to her soft cheeks that was being treated harshly by the salted tears that she kept wiping with the rough material of her dupatta. Ahem had felt like cursing himself for being so careless, and letting Gopi see him and Anita like that. He knew what the truth was, but that was hard to explain to someone who had watched everything from far distance.
Small talk between Mama Ji and Ahem Ji had carried on in the front of the car, but of course Ahem's concern had only been placed over Gopi. By the time they reached the house, Ahem knew this would be the only chance to speak with her and explain how things really were, but to do this he needed a decent reason to stay back, his thoughts lingered over to Panna, and an idea had alarmed itself in his mind.
05
"I'll carry Panna in," he opted to Gopi, but not hearing a response. As he picked her up, he asked her which room she slept in.
"She sleeps in the room over at the far right" she answered reluctantly, as she pointed out the smallest room in the house to him, while letting him follow her lead.
He looked around the size of her room, "I'm assuming this is your room too?"
She nodded her head in a yes to answer and than left the room to help the others remove the gifts from the cars. Ahem looked around quickly at the dimensions of the room and spotted a fair-sized window to which he released the lock of, but leaving the actual window itself shut. "Perfect." He praised.
All the stuff had been off-loaded and both Jigar and Ahem who had left soon after, Gopi hadn't come out of her room after Ahem had left from there, she could hear him outside talking with the others, but she remained indoors. She got rid of every memory of his from earlier on, throwing her jewelry and ornaments in a draw where they weren't visible to her anymore, messing up her hair, rubbing her flesh vigorously everywhere his lips had made contact with her body, while crying hysterically, but still quietly as she couldn't wake Panna, who would ask her a thousand questions for none that she have a single answer for.
She changed into a plain red salwar suit with a chiffon dupatta before she could fully allow herself to break down on her bed and pour her heart out. The house was asleep she could hear the murmuring dying out soon after the brothers had left, and only the light of the Moon had come in through one of the windows., she had no idea how many minutes or hours she had spent crying but whatever the time scales read, it still wasn't enough. She'd felt used, bothered, angry, upset and worthless within moments, how could she let herself believe that she could be worthy of having the love of such a man.
The window behind her shattered, she ignored it thinking the wind had probably disturbed the wooden shutter, but it wasn't long before the sound was followed by footsteps that jumped in behind her and hit the solid ground, Gopi's eyes widened in fear; scared to look back and then looked over to Panna trying to measure the distance of how far she was before she could get to her. She jumped off the bed as fast as she could and tried to run towards Panna and scream her name out, but she was stopped by a strong hold around her stomach while one hand covered her mouth. She panicked! Trying to scream even louder; putting up a tougher fight and stamping on the thief's foot; surely it was a thief who else would come through the window from the back of the house at this time of the night! He yelped in pain, "shit!"
Her body froze in it's tracks, her ears were stunned from the phrase, she knew well who that was, surely he wasn't there to steal, her hand over his hand lowered while he let her turn around to face him. He sighed out in relief, "I thought you was going to kill me there!" He joked, but soon realised that she hadn't found him or his joke belonging to any form of humour.
"Your not a thief!"
"Erm no, well technically no, but yes in the sense that I am planning on stealing you from my brother" he replied.
She turned away from him at once, "what do you want Ahem Ji?!" She gasped aloud, but keeping her voice low enough as a whisper.
"To talk to you" he said standing himself in front of her, and supporting her in her campaign of talking at a low level in order to not disturb innocent little Panna's sleep.
"I don't have anything to say to you" she said turning away from him again, making sure he knew that he wasn't welcome.
"Look Gopi for god's sake just listen to me will you" he said grabbing her by the arm and forcing her to face him, "what you saw, wasn't what it looked like!"
"Really, than in what other manner do girls and boys kiss each other on the lips and hug one another so comfortably in public if they're not in love with each other Ahem Ji?"
"Okay so you have a point" he admitted, "but technically we are engaged you know" he noted raising an eyebrow to let her be able to have a little laugh, "okay that was silly of me, sorry, but Gopi you've met Anita and you know how she is, she's so clingy!"
"Ahem Ji please! I'm not asking for you to provide me with an explanation, you're right, you are engaged to her, and you have every right to do whatever you want together" she said wishing he would leave before she broke down before him.
"I know you're not asking Gopi, but do you honestly think that I can't see the pain it's caused you by seeing such a thing! I know it hurts, and I know I've hurt you, and I'll accept whatever punishment you give me."
"I don't want to punish you Ahem Ji. Please, just go from here, and be happy with the life that you've chosen."
"I am Gopi, that's exactly what I'm trying to do, I want to be happy in the life I've chosen to spend with you."
"I'm afraid that's the wrong answer Ahem Ji, we have no future together, and when I saw you and Anita Ji together today, I confirmed all doubts."
"Well I'm sure I can plant more in your mind Gopi, but don't let one misunderstanding ruin what we have."
"That's just it! We don't have anything between us, why can't you understand that!"
"Stop it Gopi, just stop it! I've had enough of this, you know as well as I do that you won't be able to live without me, because I know that I can't live without you, I've spent all this time trying to explain that to you, but you just won't accept it! When Anita hugs me or kisses me in public you sit there and cry - look even now your eyes are red from irritation from the tears you've shed, but you're still failing to admit that you love me, why did it bother you so much?! Because you can't see me with someone else, can you! Tell me Gopi, what happens to you if I kiss some other girl?!" He lashed out cornering her into one end, "I don't understand what your problem is Gopi, do you want to know what took me so long with Anita! I was trying to get these off of her!" He said as he flashed the four kangans that his Mother had given to her Bahu.
Gopi was astonished by the very sight of them, "but your Mother gifted them to her Bahu, who is Anita Ji, why did you ask them back from her?!"
"Because Gopi, she isn't my Mother's daughter-in-law, you are" he replied in a calmer tone.
She was left speechless, no words were known to her in that moment, what could she say to him - that she hadn't a clue on how serious he was; that he was willing to do everything that he could do for her, and she in return couldn't give him so much as the comfort of saying she loved him more than anything in this world, or at the very least that she couldn't even trust him when he said he'd loved her. Her tongue was caught as well as her vocabulary of words, while she faced this dilemma alone; Ahem had already taken the privilege of slipping the bangles onto her wrists, while she stood back and watched.
"But what about Maa Ji that would hurt her feelings, she would never accept me as her daughter-in-law" Gopi worried.
Ahem smiled as this was in some form a response for accepting him into her life, "this is our second step, accepting each others problems and concerns as one, I yours and you mine."
Gopi eased up before him, his thinking was so beautiful that she couldn't believe that she'd doubted his love for her. Her lips tried to curve up into a smile but were unsure to so do so, "it's okay to smile Gopi" he said, but then his brows furrowed as his eyes hovered over her bruised lip which had turned more visible now due to the healing process. He ran a cool thumb over it lightly and apologised, "I'm sorry" he whispered, "I never meant to hurt you." He leaned in to kiss her, but she moved back apprehensively-
"Gopi Behen?" Mumbled Panna in her sleep, "where are we, have we come home yet?" she asked in her tired state.
Gopi's eyes pondered over to her while Ahem slipped to one side, she was still asleep, "we're home now Panna, go to sleep" she hushed.
"Ahem Ji please go now, if Panna wakes up it'll be a difficult task to explain things to her" she begged.
"Fine but, at least-"
"Ahem Ji please!" She pressed again. "By the way how did you know that my window was open?" she asked in curiosity.
"Oh I left if open myself when I put Panna to sleep, I knew I had some serious convincing to do" he winked as he quickly perched a quick kiss on her cheek, "Gopi do me a favour, and please don't ever cry because of me again, you have no idea how restless I've been after seeing your distressed face tired of crying so much," he said as he caressed her face while he spoke. "I really love you too much you know." He climbed out of the window quickly and before leaving caught hold of her hand.
"Ahem Ji, please go quickly I think somebody is awake in the house! Let go of my hand!" She tugged at it to release it from his grip but he didn't let go, and taking his own sweet time he rested on the back of her hand a long pressed deep kiss.
Gopi had abandoned her panic attack for a moment and resorted into Ahem's Ji's eyes for a few moments. He let her go as he walked backwards and admired her attention on him for what felt like ages since that incident beforehand.
She'd turned around but hadn't closed her window yet, she was stroking the spot where he'd left his kiss for her, and smiled for the first time whole-heartedly since that day! Ahem watched her, he knew she thought he'd left by now, but he couldn't help himself, his heart refused to let him return home. If only she would behave like that while he was there in front of her, but the fact that she was beginning to give herself over to him was a great start!
Finally he'd convinced himself to leave from there, but before he drove off he reversed his car to the back of he house and tried to catch one last glimpse of her for the day, and to his surprise she was still standing there day-dreaming as she stared at her hand, and then finally she let out a big grin and kissed her hand in the same place his lips had lingered a little while ago. Which was when she finally realised that Ahem had been there the whole time, the least to say was that she was shocked, but rather embarrassed that he'd seen her the whole time and while Ahem grinned back at her cute behaviour, she'd shut the shutters on his face in shock as she didn't know what else to do.
Ahem amused at her actions and decided it was time to head off, otherwise he'd be there forever.
Gopi peeked out from the tiny gap in the shutter and saw that Ahem had left and felt foolish now that he'd seen the effect his love had on her.
"Thank god the ceremony went ahead well Mota Bhabi, now I can finally rest at peace knowing both our sons have suitable wives to take care of them" said Kokila as she put her feet up, and removed her jewelry from her earlobes.
"Yes I agree, Kokila" said Hetal, "both our daughter-in-laws looked very pretty, don't you think?"
"Of course they did, but I didn't like the dress Jigar chose for Gopi one bit, it was far too revealing, a daughter-in-law doesn't look respectable in clothes that look like that" she replied making her distaste in Gopi's lengha known.
"I know how you feel about things like that Kokila but children these days don't even consider wearing Indian clothes, so the fact that Gopi still wore such vulgar looking clothes and still managed to give it a look of simple modesty done wonders to the way she looked, don't you think?" She asked in return with her sweetest smile planted over her face.
"You're right Mota Bhabi" Kokila nodded in agreement, "no other girl could have looked so dignified in that dress, than Gopi" she added with a smile.
"Yes Mom, you're very right!" Said a voice that took Kokila and Hetal by surprise. "No other girl could have looked like Gopi in that dress, without looking so vulgar, she paid a huge favour to that dress, don't you think?" He said casually as he walked up to them and greeted them before he took his seat beside his Mother.
"Bhai, you had better watch it, that's my future wife you're talking about" Jigar intervened, making his presence aware right after his elder brother, "I do hope you're not having second thoughts" he joked while making himself comfortable on the sofa.
"I can't say I'm not Jigar" Ahem amused back, "she looked damn good, and when everyone else couldn't keep their eyes off of her, how could you expect me too" he added further.
"Bhai don't force me to do something I wouldn't want to do" Jigar replied back, "you're making me wary of yourself, and next time I'll have to tell Gopi to take a ghoonghat from her Jhet Ji" he chuckled.
"You ever heard of a saying that you can run but you can't hide?" asked Ahem slyly, "well let's just say it might apply to you right now."
Jigar hadn't understood the seriousness in his brother's words, and thought of them to be having a light-hearted joke on a simple basis, but little did he know that Ahem meant every word he said. "And besides I'm not her Jhet Ji'" he added much to everyone's surprise, "'yet."
"Good one Bhai, very smart, but don't you know that it's bad manners to eye other men's personal property, I mean isn't that why you chose Anita?"
"Hmm but I could always change my mind, hai na Mom?" Ahem said taking Kokila off guard.
"Ahem what's gotten into you, that's no way to talk about your younger brother's wife!" She scolded.
"Lekin Mom, you did pick Gopi for me in the first place didn't you, which I would say gives me more right, wouldn't you say?" He answered outsmarting her.
"Bhai! I hope you're not trying to steal my wife before my very eyes, I feel like I'm in the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan live and direct!" He laughed off.
"Will you boys stop it, you're talking like you're arguing over some new shiny toy, just like when you were kids. Please let me remind you that this is in no circumstances the same issue!" Kokila told off once again, this time to both the boys.
"Don't worry Kokila, it's just a little harmless play, they don't mean anything. You know these two brothers and their little fights they used to have as children" Hetal reminded, helping the boys to avoid getting told off.
"Yeah Bhai, do you remember that time when you wanted to take that girl to the ice-cream parlour for your first date, but then she ended up going with me because you stood her up by half hour! That was funny, you didn't speak to me for over two weeks!"
"I remember" informed Ahem smirking at the old school memory, "looks like it's time for pay back Jigar."
"Well I had better keep my guard up in that case."
"But Bhai, if you steal Gopi from me, then what will you tell Anita?" He said sarcastically picking up on the point.
"I'm sure Anita will find plenty of other guys, maybe we could opt for a wife swap" Ahem threw in.
"Ahem!" Kokila raised her voice, "stop at once, and get to bed at once. Hai Krishna Bhagwan, these boys have forgotten that they're sitting before their Mothers Mota Bhabi, this is too much." She could tell there was something in Ahem's voice tone, the way he was speaking told her something was different about him, and she feared to know what that truth might be.
Jigar and Ahem looked to Hetal Kaki for some help, but before she could fend for them, Kokila had noticed the signal of plea directed to Hetal, "Mota Bhabi please don't encourage the children, they have already said far too much to test my patience." Hetal looked at Ahem and Jigar and gave a pitied smile, informing that she couldn't defend them any longer.
"Goodnight Mom, goodnight Kaki" said Ahem and Jigar as they left for the night, before the got into more trouble.
"Bhai should I really be suspicious of your behaviour?" Jigar whispered over to Ahem quickly.
"Don't say I didn't warn you Jigar" Ahem responded so formally that Jigar couldn't tell if he really was joking.
"Okay now I'm getting scared. That means I'll be left all alone while you romance two beautiful girls."
"One beautiful girl" he replied in a daze, referring to his bathroom kiss, "and what are you so worried about Jigar, I've seen you flirting with Rashi, and don't say you don't know what I'm talking about."
"I, don't, know, what, you're talking, about Bhai!" He said each slowly and purposely acting oblivious to what Ahem had said.
Ahem stopped to look at him, "you sure about that, I could always remind you" he said.
"Er I think I'll give it a miss Bhai," Jigar replied knowing that Ahem took a fancy in beating him up every now and then, especially when he would try to act too smart with him.
"You sure, 'cause I sure don't feel tired, I could do with some pass time you know."
Jigar posed a long stretch with his arms and let out a loud yawn, "you know I'm suddenly really tired, I think I'll just go off to bed." He said quickly using this as an excuse to make a run for it. Ahem laughed at his younger brother and shook his head side to side, as he turned to his room, "I'm sorry Jigar, but you're going to have to forgive me, there is now chance I can let you marry Gopi, not at any cost." He sighed and shut his doors behind him.

I'm sorry for the delay and I know I have been using the same excuse of being busy, but the truth is there is too much going this month, that I'm finding it really hard to cope with everything, so please forgive me guys, I really am sorry. 😳😳
