MNMS, just out of curosity, let me ask you a question. Seriously, I want to learn. THis is what I know of the Origins of Holy Quran
"Muslims believe the angel Gabriel revealed the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad a little at a time. The revelations began about A.D. 610 and continued until Muhammad's death in 632. Muhammad's followers, who wrote down the revelations, collected them into the book that is now known as the Quran. The standard text of the Quran was formed during the reign of Caliph Uthman, who ruled from 644 to 656. Muslims consider the Quran to be the words of God Himself, and in no sense the composition of Muhammad. They believe that the earthly book, bound between covers, is a copy of an eternal book that is kept in heaven."
Quran is written by human hands- by profit Mohammad's followers. I truly believe that Profit Mohammad once roamed the earth just like Lord Krishan, Guru Nanak, profit Jesus and spread message of GOd, but I refuse to believe that he was okay with men having 4 wives or women wearing Burkas or promise of 72 virgins after life...at this low level thinking, it becomes more of personal need. Someone really tried to impose their social norms on other people. Some one messed up with his teachings...someone used his name to write what they thought was right. How do people buy the story of 72 or whatever amount of virgins? Of course nothing has changed for 1000 of years..because people have bought into this.
I apologize MNMS, if I offend you. I want to learn. Please if you have a better explanation, tell me..
DF... I'm glad that u are asking this question... And im not offended.. 😊
Answering ur questions require deep explanations and details. And i am doing that in the best of my ability.
Ur paragraph regarding wht Muslims believe abt the Holy Quran is almost true. Yes it is written by the hands of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)'s followers under His supervision. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to narrate the verses from the book and His followers wrote them according to His instructions. Re-reading and re-checking was done continuously. Months B4 His death, the angel Gabriel (Hazrat Jibraeel ) came to revise the Holy Quran twice in the month of Ramadan instead of doing just once(which was their yearly routine). After His death, as a precautionary measure Caliph Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) complied the Holy Book so that its verses may not differ from one Book to another i.e. Quran must remain the same where ever it is read.
Ok .. Quran written by human hands. YES, Its narrator was a Human (Prophet Muhammad pbuh) Its writers were humans, Its compiler were Humans. It is written FOR humans. Tell me, How will the message of Allah will pass to us humans without having any human involvement in that? The concept of a Messenger is that He is a human to preach Humans. To talk in their language, in their style and in their way for them to understand e.g. Quran in Arabic language as the people lived in Arabia spoke ARabic. For his support a Message accompanies him in the form of a book. This is wht the tradition is and it was done in the same way as Hazrat Musa (Moses) And Hazrat Issa (Jesus). Their books are also written by Human hands.
Ok.. Now abt men having 4 wives. Well if u see the history, b4 Islam in arabia there was no proper system of marriage.. and people were used to have unlimited number of wives. So Islam introduced the system of marriage to Limit the number of wives for its followers. This was a big change then. Because traditions and customs are not changed overnight. They take time to settle in the mindset of humans which have followed them for years. So at that time.. people limited their wives to 4. And people even went for having only one wife at that time too.
Now to clear the misconception, Allah permitted but also said that u may have upto 4 wives but ONLY when u can treat them equally. And Equal treatment is something u cannot do with 2/3/4 wives. There will be a sure question on men who have 2/3/4 wives and even on the one wife that they have, on the Day of Judgment that whether he treated his wives/wife well or not. And there is punishment if failed to do so. Now there is a bit hidden restriction on man to have one wife and be the best with her as he is not that capable to be good with 4 wives EQUALLY. As Prophet Muhammad said in His last Khotba on Hajj that People! Treat women your best and be very nice to them.. u will be questioned very strictly on that. Fear from Allah in this matter.
DF wht u see these days that men keeping an undue advantage of this law is the mistake on their part. Islam provides a strict ethical moral code for every human. It is the inability of Humans that they cannot understand that and follow it properly. I blame men for their act and the women suffering as the result. Otherwise Islam has provided very strict codes on how to be extremely good with women and very strict punishment if they are unable to do so. Women posses a very high status in Islam. Unfortunately its interpretation is not done well. I hope that answers ur 1st question😊
Women wearing veils or burkhas and the promise of 72 virgins after life. Well Islam asks abt wearing a veil but it is a personal choice of the woman to do so. No imposition is meant by Islam for its followers. The orders were given in particular context of that era. DF these issues are very complicated and as I am a teenager and in the phase of learning process, it is difficult for me to completely explain u as there are certain concepts behind such laws. I can talk abt wht i know completely.. for ur questions i will have to do a further research on these topics. Its not that i am unaware of the laws of my religion. But it will be my incapability and my inability to say something and make statements for which i don't have the sound and proper knowledge abt its history, its proper Hadith (the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh) and the proper understanding of the law and its complexities. Its just like if u study a certain law applicable in this world without having a proper knowledge for its background and implementation, how can u perceive it properly and even explain it to others. I ,for one, am not habitual to make statements without having proper strong knowledge. So in doing so i may provide u a misleading information which would be very unfair and a mistake on my part.😊
After saying that, I sincerely advice u to do a research urself in this direction if u are seriously curious abt it. Different people say different things based on their interpretations abt Islam. So in forming an opinion for different concepts of Islam requires a serious effort and research in it if u are willing to do so, its ur choice. 😊
