Can action-packed potboilers become soaps in the near future


Kick-ass action on small screen Sounds exciting,right How about soaps loaded with hi-octane action and dollops of entertainment instead of tearjerking moments For over a decade,weve had soaps dominated by kitchen politics,social dramas and more.At a time when Bollywoods riding high on blockbusters like Singham,Bodyguard,Ready,Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap can some of that magic be recreated on small screen too Considering more and more prime time superstars like Ronit Roy,Iqbal Khan,Shabbir Ahluwalia,Karan Singh Grover,Karan Wahi,Ashish Sharma,Aditya Redij,Gurmeet Choudhary,Gaurav Chopraa,Vishal Karwal boast of welltoned physiques and have done martial arts/kickass action scenes in their soaps/reality shows,may be its time our showmakers thought of making a hard hitting action serial with them in starring roles

While,shows like Left Right Left,Time Bomb,Laagi Tujhse Lagan,Dill Mill Gayye,Seven,CID,Adalat,Special Squad,Geet Hui Sabse Parayi have had action sequences in them,Hindi entertainment television is yet to get a fullfledged action serial like Revenge,Castle,Dexter,Remington Steel,Criminal Minds etc.Can our audiences get some adrenaline rush from kickbutt action soaps Actor Kinshuk Mahajan says,Films like Dabangg and Bodyguard worked,so they have entertainment value.People get bored with over the top melodrama so,action packed serials will surely grab eyeballs as audiences also want a break from regular soaps. Actor Anas Rashid says,Itd be fun to be a part of a action based soap adapted from films like Dabangg or Singham.Most actors who love action-based performances would enjoy doing stunts. Actor Arhaan Behl says that it would be difficult to have a hardcore action series on TV,as women are the target audience.Given a choice Id love to do a soap based on Sarfarosh,Singham or Rockstar, he says.Budgets are not an issue for the makers,but they are hesitant to make a show on the lines of action.I wont like to add violence to the shows in the name of action packed soaps.TV as an medium of entertainment is lapped by families and they are happy with their regular doze of drama in soaps.In any case,we have hit action films coming on TV repeatedly so where is the need for action packed masala TV serials, says producer Rajan Shahi.Producer Siddharth Tewary feels,Action packed soaps may be tried but there is no guarantee to their success.
