Chapter 14

She came out and she placed her finger on the trigger of the gun…..her target ws right infront of her…she had to shoot him as per the instructions….but gulaal froze she couldn't shot him; as she was about to kill a human made up of same flesh blood and emotions like her, whose heart must be beating like hers, whose lungs might be breathing like hers, who was a complete stranger to her whom she had never met in her life and she was ordered to kill him who did no harm to her and she was dumbfonded…..

while criminal turned around he saw her pointing gun at him the criminal was scared he aimed the gun at her and shot….

gulaal was numbed suddenly kesar grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him…..and the bullet passed by hit the iron boxes behind

kesar looked at her and then with the reflex he put his finger on her finger on the trigger and forced her to pull trigger…the tigger was pulled. The bullet hit the criminal and he got injured at the leg……gulaal was shocked she turned and saw kesar was looking at her furiously…..

In the meantime a junior inspector came out

Kesar saw him and pulled her wrist and dragged her to the safer place

Soon reached the safe spot little distant to the gowdown

Gulaal pulled her hand back in reflex and asked angrily "tum yanha kaise"

Kesar said"mujhe kuch kaam tha phir tumhe dekha to socha k chal kar dekh lo tum thek ho k nahi"

Gulaal was highly frustrated she said "kyu koi tamasha ho raha tha kya ander jo chale aaye…..tumhara dimaag khaarab hai kya mein inspector hun tum chor ho…mujhe tumhara peecha karna chaihiye par ulta tum mera peecha karte ho mujhse darte nahi ho mujhe irritate karte rehte ho…tum khud to paagal ho hi saath mein mujhe bhi bana doga"

Kesar grabbed her arm tightly and said furiously "shut up gulaal aur tum batao tum kya kar rahi thi wanha"

Gulaal said in between "mein kya kar rahi thi"

Kesar said "criminal theek tumhare saamne khada tha aur tumne us par goli kyu nahi chalayi ….paagal ho gayi thi kya ho kya gaya tha tumhe"

Gulaal tired to get away she said "m..m…mein chalane hi waali thi"

Kesar hold her back and said "acha mein wahi tha mein khud dekha tha gulaal asaani se tum us criminal ko shoot kar sakti par tum chupchap khadi thi tumhe pata hai ek min k deri se kya ho sakta tha tumhe kuch ho jata to…"he said showing his fear and concern

Gulaal looked into his eyes and said "ho jata to tumhe kya"

Kesar grew in anger and said "bakwaas karne k jarurat nahi hai…woo koi mamoli chor nahi tha murderer tha…..gulaal tumhe batana padega kyu tumne shoot nahi kiya"

and then he asked "kitno par goli chalayi hai tumne"

Gulaal looked into other direction

Kesar looked into her eyes in astonishment asked "noone?"

Gulaal said "shutup aur mein apne batch k sharp shooter rah chuki hun"

Kesar said "training par ek dummy par goli chalna aur ek asli insaan par goli chalane mein bahoot farq hota hai gulaal aur agar sharp shooter thi to uspar kyu nahi chalayi"

He thought for a sec and said "kanhi tumhe shootout se dar to nahi lagta"

Gulaal looked at him and said "apne kaam se matlab rakho warna pehla encounter tumhara hoga"

And she walked away leaving him in distress

Gulaal reached the spot….inpector kadam asked kanha "chali gayi thi gulaal"

Gulaal replied sir check karne gayi thi aur koi to nahi hai

Inspector said "nahi sab mare gaye hai well done everybody aur aaj ise khushi mein hum party karenge"

Gulaal didn't said anything she was restless

She looked around the place was shamble and the blood was everywhere

5 out of the 7 gangsters were killed in the shootout…and other two were injured badly in the ganbattle….the place was horrendous and the place was deadth itself

gulaal looked at the dead faces their faces were distorted…the blood was oozing out…still fresh and she shivered inwardly but managed to remain calm outwardly

she was restless she covered her mouth as she saw the bloodshed….

And kesar was reading her expression and restlessness from the distance and more he got puzzled and numbed

Gulaal returned her home in the evening she quickly went inside her room and closed the door and windows in fear the horrendous sight of the morning shootout haunted her….she remembered the dead faces and she rushed in her washroom and vomited…she splashed her face with water and saw herself she was shivering in fear she had seen massive shootout…though gulaal was trained for the encounters and shootout using the dummies…but today she shranked in fear

she remembered she had always cleared her test with flying colors everytime her gun shot right at the target and everyone praised her for her shooting skills and today she couldn't pull the trigger today she understood the cruelty for what she was been trained..she understood the difference between the cotton stuffed dummies and the humans made up of blood and flesh….difference between life and lifeless difference between the target and real person…..difference between her mind and her emotions…..and she was in tears

And then she remembered kesar's question….."y she joined the police force"

Gulaal came out of the washroom and opened the almirah and took out the photo album desarately see a single pics of her with her dad…..where she smiled with her dad where she hugged him tightly…but there was none…not a single pic of her and her dad together smiling at each other..gulaal looked at the pics of her mother… she lost her mother at the young age

Then she recalled her past memories……gulaal was lonely child her father was hardcore police officer and after his wife's dead he involved himself more in his work to forget his loniliness completely skipping the fact that her only child was left alone in this world gulaal was brought up by the her nanny….for whom raising the child was just a job……as time passed by revji got himself involved more and more in his job…..gulaal was proud of her father as he was serving his country she knew he was busy man but all she wanted 5 mins from busy schedule so that she can share her thought her dreams her aspiration with him….the 5 mins that she wanted in her school function where her dad could see her dressed in princess dress…. the 5 mins that she wanted in her bday party wen her father could wish her happy bady….the 5 min that she wanted in the park where her father can play with her……. unfortunately he was busy….and wen he came back from work gulaal already slept revji sometimes showed his affectin to her but the moments were on fingers and slowly she stopped carving for the moment….and she found her solace in painting singing photography and dancing…gulaal looked at the pics and remembered she was in class 7^th and she had won interstate painting competition

She returned happily to her home anxiously to show him the prize and saw her father was cuddling and showing affection to her cousin who had won the shooting competition in the sportsclub

Revji said to his brother "bhaisahab sach mein bada garv hai mujhe is bache par dekhiye humare khandan ka naam abhi se roshan kar raha hai yeh bhi aage chal kar police officer banega…kash mera ek beta hota…mein bhi use police officer banata"

Gulaal heard it and tears flow down her cheeks she dropped her medal and certificate never in her life she felt so unworthy….and from that day she locked her paint brush her music her camera inside her almirah and decided to become a police officer like her father

She locked her dreams inside her and chose to live the dream of her father to make him proud of her…to make him love her…uptil now she constantly followed his dreams…but how can she kill a person to fulfill her father's dreams…and here she failed miserably….she was crying at her failure

Gulaal looked at her father pics and said "dekhna papa ekdin aapko mujh par garv jarur hoga"

And she came out of her room and headed towards her father's room

She opened the door and revji looked at her and asked "kya baat hai gulaal koi case discuss karna hai"

Gulaal stopped and looked at him affectionately and said kuch nahi papa…goodnight papa

Revji smiled and said "goodnight beta"

And she close the door with moist tears at the word "beta"

While kesar was sitting in his room…he was thinking of her…. he was concerned and fearful for her he said to himself yeh paagal hai kya…..jab properly shoot nahi kar sakti to police force kyu join kiya aise to shahid ho jaayegi…kya karu mein????
