There was a thread (now frozen) in the Mytho forum about one's favorite Pandava, where I posted my views on Yudhisthir. It sparked quite a discussion.

Wow that was a damn good and informative discussion. And I agree with most of what was written and it was a good debate.
Like I said I hate yudhistir. What was his dharma all about? If he was that righteous he should not have played dice in tthe first place. And secondly i hate his treatment of Draupadi. He had no right to lose her in gambling and then see her being disrobed and pulled by her. Any man worth his salt would have slapped another man for treating and humiliating his wife even if he was a slave and thirdly, i agree he never was able to take care of himself. He was a king by virtue of his being the known first born. I hated it when he turned to Abhimanyu to defend him during chakravyooha. Pathetic. he was an old donkey and he turns to an inexperiences child to defend him!!!!!

^^^^ I fully agree. Since you know the story of how Balarama killed Rukmi, the circumstances were pretty similar, except that Rukmi was guilty of a lot less than what Duryodhan, Dushashan, Karna & Shakuni was. Rukmi kept insulting Balarama, but nowhere did he humilate Revathy or any other Yadava woman. But finally, after a verbal insult, Balarama decided that he had had enough, and slew him, and battered all his friends. Does that mean that what Balarama did was adharm and what Yudhisthir did was dharam? No, nobody can accuse Balarama of that. Balarama showed exactly how enemies are to be dealt with.

Yudhisthir otoh prevented Bhima & others from saving Draupadi, but later in exile, he sent them against their wish to get them released from the Gandharvas. Fantastic sense of priorities. Oh, and having to turn to an inexperienced child to defend him takes the cake.

Anyway, on this serial, I think Sachin Verma repersents him pretty well. The guy who plays Bhima looks too serious, like BRC's Praveen Kumar. Arjun is so far a tad underwhelming, and I can't make out Nakul from Sahadev. Amit Pachori, who played Shiva in ASR and in initial episodes of Mahima Shani Dev ki, seems to be doing well playing Duryodhan's role. I just saw the IF profile of Additi Gupta, who Kranti advocated in the above post, and she looks fine as a Draupadi, although I've not seen her act.
