After yesterday's episode I have had the worst knot in my stomach in years! Never have I seen a character on tv which is as scary as Shyam Manohar Jha. I mean even the Black Smoke from Lost wasn't that scary after a while. The only person who I could find in the world of fiction who gave me the heebe jeebes like Shyam was Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Now let me be clear. When I say Tom Riddle I don't mean Voldemort. Voldemort, though scary, wasn't half as twisted and conniving as Tom Riddle. Voldemort wasnt afraid to display his distaste and revulsion for the muggle borns and the muggle lovers. He was open in his atrocities and tortures and had nothing to hide. You knew exactly where you stood with Voldemort and knew exactly what you had coming for you if you displeased him.
The Tom Riddle of Hogwarts and Borgin & Burkes days was sinister. He was calculating, conniving, always in the good books of those who mattered and eternally obsessed and hungry for power and glory. He hid his views and thoughts. You never knew what he was up to and the cruelty he was capable of. He is the perfect mirror to Shyam.
We know that this Khushi obsession is nothing new for Shyam and not the reason why he is cheating and lying to his wife. When we first met him he was already lying through his teeth to his wife by saying he is on tour when he was in Lucknow the same time she was. He doesn't let any body know what is going on in that devious little head of his and is always in the good books of those who matter (Nani, Bua, Anjali and Arnav), he is calculating, cunning, and has a knack for making any situation work for him. His obsession with Khushi is no less than Toms obsession with things that belonged to the great pure blood wizards and horcruxes. It won't go away but fester in to the deaths of those who posess them and won't willingly part with them. So if Babuji won't part with his daughter he is better off dead.
Shyam like Tom has the potential to become his own version of Voldemort. The only thing that scares me about Shyam is that I can't see a Dumbledore in sight!! Who is the only person Shyam is scared of?
