Gufi Paintal as Shakuni Mama in 'Dwarkadheesh...'

Imagine TV's "Dwarkadheesh: Bhagwaan Shree Krishn" has entered the iconic era of the Mahabharata.

The show will now trace the life of Lord Krishna during the phase where Pandavas and Kauravas announce war against each other. With both sides as mighty as the other, it is the power of the mind that changes the war game on the Kurukshetra battlefield, where Krishna faces his opponent Shakuni, an equally intelligent plotter, but one with a devious plan.

To give tough competition to the character of Lord Krishna, essayed by Vishal Karwal, is veteran Gufi Paintal, who returns to the small screen to play the iconic character of Shakuni Mama. His hurtful dialogues and cunning expression as Shakuni created a sensation and made it one of the most memorable roles in Indian television history. An elated Gufi Paintal said, "It is my pleasure to play the role of Shakuni Mama once again on television as it was undeniably my very best role. I'm excited and very fortunate to be the only actor who will be enacting his own role once again, especially a character that the audiences still remember and praise me for. I am confident that I will be able to recreate the same magic."

Why was the embarassment? I didnt get it.

I didn't get the embarrassment either.

From Monday's & Tuesday's performance, I see that he's changed the way he's portraying his character. I hope that instead of the 'bhanje' lines that he used to give Duryodhan, he does something different, w/o being story altering. His foul-mouthing Kunti was really uncalled for - Krishna could have narrated to JS the story of the births of the Pandavas w/o Shakuni alluding to it.

I don't see how anybody is going to give Vishal competition - Gufi didn't pique Nitish 20 years ago, and I don't think he can pique Vishal. Puneet's re-appearance, when it happens, will be brief, since Jarasandha's last interaction w/ Krishna b4 his death happened @ Rukmini's swayamvara. Also, I hope they don't have too many scenes of DDKS (Duryodhan, Dushashan, Karna & Shakuni) as they did in the Mahabharata - it got old. But yeah, it's good to see Gufi change how he's portraying his former character.
