I was really starting to doubt myself as a writer and had second thoughts about this fanfic, but I feel much reassured after reading your views.

Chapter 7 - Conflictions

Geet woke up the next morning with a smile on her face.

She shouldn't have been smiling. The events of last night were shocking.

But in her heart, the terror of the situation was overpowered with her memories of Maan.

She got ready in her usual manner, except now she felt a lot happier.

Geet's stomach churned with butterflies as she made her way downstairs to the dining room for breakfast, knowing sooner or later Maan would grace it with her presence.

"Good morning, Amelia," she greeted. Amelia gave a small smile then returned to playing with her plate, looking dejected.

Madhavi walked in with the food. "Miss Amelia here is worried because her tutor gave her mathematical homework & she does not know how to tackle it."

"I will help you," Geet said. Amelia looked up at her & smiled.

"When, Miss Geet?"

"As soon as we've had breakfast."

Her back was to the door, yet she waited in anticipation for his arrival.

Breakfast was a silent affair. Madhavi & Amelia were enjoying the food.

Geet was taking slow sips of tea, wondering what was going on. He should have been here by now.

When Madhavi stood up to clean the table 10 minutes later, Geet was surprised.

"What about sir's breakfast?" she asked.

"Mr Maan has gone out of town for a week."

"Out of town?"

"He's gone to meet the Malhotras. They are a very affulent family, close friends of the Khuranas for years. He goes there often. The family is wonderfully aristocratic."

Madhavi took the plates through to the kitchen. Geet grabbed a teapot & followed, eager to know more.

"Does he usually take off like this without informing anyone?"

"He is the owner of this estate, I hardly think he would need to inform anyone. When he leaves like this & takes some clothes with him, we all immediately know he's gone to the Malhotras. Also, there is some talk of an engagement between Mr Maan and one of the daughters."

Geet's heart sank. "An engagement?"

"Yes. He has known Miss Sasha since childbirth. She is breathtakingly beautiful. She adorns herself with the finest jewellry & clothes, & is very well educated. Her piano solos are mesmerising. You might get to meet her, if Mr Maan brings the family over. Let's hope not though because the house becomes very hectic with their presence."

Madhavi began clearing up the dishes. Geet walked out of the kitchen, lost in her thought.

She mentally cursed herself for allowing her feelings for Maan to develop when he was involved with another woman. What chance did she stand against the aristocrats, the rich, the wonderfully beautiful?

She was a plain simple girl from a tortured background.

Who was only living in the house for shelter & a job to keep her lonely days occupied.

She would use his disappearance to get rid of her feelings. She had to. In the eyes of the world, there was no way he was ever written in her destiny.

"Miss Geet, come on!"

She snapped out of her reverie & looked down at Amelia who was tugging on her hand. "Please help me with my homework, my tutor will be here soon!"

"Let's go," Geet said quietly, letting Amelia lead her upstairs to her bedroom where she did her homework.

The three daughters were talking excitedly, all eager to enjoy his presence in their house. They had worn their best outfits, accompanied by the finest pearls and were behaving very ladylike.

Yet his thoughts were with her.

He could not have faced her after last night. He was supposed to be back at the house, investigating who had set his bedroom alight.

Yet he found himself miles away, just so that he could escape from Geet.

He had to.

She had enchanted him the day he had seen her in the forest, when she had saved him.

And he remained enchanted, eager to talk to her, get to know her, enjoy her company.

But last night, he had seen something new reflecting in her eyes. Something which terrified him.

He could not allow her to develop feelings for him, as he would destroy her. She was gentle & fragile. Too lovely for her life to be invaded with his harsh, beastly presence.

He had to find some way to suppress his feelings, for her sake. He already knew the depth of his feelings; and letting her go would tear him apart inside.

But if it meant she would be spared from the catastrophe he would bring, then so be it.

This chapter sucks. Bad case of writers block, I just didn't know what to write, hence its short length. But anyways, do like & comment. It's helpful to know what you guys think. And I am open to suggestions so if any of you have some, throw them at me.

Fozia 🤗...thank u for the update and PM...wonder why u felt the update was not good...it was interesting...Maaneet's new feelings for each other...their doubts ...and Mr.Malhotra's daughter is Sasha 😲 😡...waiting to see how the story goes...plz continue...love u...TC 😊
