"Most of my income goes on telephone bills"

Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns.

Tassneim Sheikh aka Tanishha proves the difference between reel and real life! Unlike the onscreen image of the shrewd and money minded Mohini donned by her, she is very sensible when it comes to expenses. To everyone's surprise, she hates the sight of jewellery and doesn't invest in anything and everything. She talks to Riya V Anandwala and tells her about intelligent investments!

What kind of investments have you done till date?
Well, I have invested in LIC policies and properties. But I never invest in bonds or mutual funds.
Have you ever thought of investing in stocks?
Its my hard earned money, can't even think of risking it. I don't intend to play around with my income by investing in shares. And the recent slump in the share market has made my conviction even the more stronger.
What property have you invested in?
Well, my own house and a few here and there.

So is your house on loan?
Yes, it is. But nominal loan.

Where does most of your income go?
My cell phone bill! As my husband is out of India most of the time, I end making international calls, and incur huge phone bills in the process!
Are you an impulsive buyer?
No. If I like something I buy it, and don't even think twice, even if I have to shell out a lot for it. But if I don't like something, I will not even look at it. You see no one can ever try and force me to buy anything, like recently a colleague was telling about mutual funds, and I should invest in it, but I didn't!
So approximately how much do you end up spending on yourself, by the end of the month?
Maximum it touches five thousand unless and until there is something extra ordinary that I cannot resist it goes up to seven or eight thousand!

What's your take on loans?
I can't term it as a burden, but certainly a sort of pressure.
Do you own a car? Is it on loan?
Yes, I own two cars, Baleno and Maruti 800. The former is on loan, which is going to cross its finish line very soon!
How are you by nature when it comes to your finances?
I consider myself very intelligent when it comes to my way of spending money. I always invest in the right place, and don't give a chance to anyone to pin point my mistakes!
What about jewellery, how much of your money has been blown on it?
No, not at all! I hate jewellery. Even during my marriage, I hardly made any. Well this includes diamonds too. I have only one solitaire ring and my mangal sutra, which I flaunt. I don't want jewellery to lie in the safe, what's the point?
So any interest in gadgets?
Again a no! I am happy with my kitchen wares.
