Okay...

1. Was a little bleh for me. It just seemed a little to umm...I don't know how to describe it...it seemed a little to happy for me 😳 Like you said the lyrics are too cheesy for my liking and I felt like I was in some fairy world where the sun shines brightly, the birds sing and rainbows colour the sky.

2. THIS HAS TO BE MY FAVOURITE!!! I loved this song. I added this to my 'favourites' on youtube so I can listen to it again and again. I loved the music and the lyrics. Basically this is a song that compels you to listen to it again and again. I love the slow start and how it builds up. And kudos to the singer too 👏 boy it took me ages to find the clap emo and I realised it's on the side 😳

3. This song isn't bad, not as great as the above but it was not as crap as the first. Maybe if I listen to it a few more times it will grow on me.

4. This one left me a little disappointed. I really liked the start with the guitar (...or is it bass? *goes and listens to it again* ) and then he started singing and I just paused because it literally made my ears hurt. The music and singing just don't go...it seems off. But because you complimented the lyrics, I did search them and they are much better than the song! I really liked reading the lyrics.

5. Nice song, super weird video 😆 Only listened to half of it, but I added it to my watchlist and will go listen to it again later.

Not really sure what's going on.
Boogleton- have you you snooping around the music zone in my head? Have you?A worse, pinched my thoughts on Sookie's 5 pieces for the day? Looks like you have because that is very nearly what I think about each of the pieces, esp. 1, 2 and 3.
I thought Sookie's virtual kick had thrown the laziness bug out of you? Or is it that thoughts have begun to travel along the Greenwich line?

Sookie- interesting and electic choice of music. Must thank you for introducing me to Gangstas's Paradise- simply loved it, fantatic piece- very moving. Never in my dreams did i think I'd ever say this about a piece of hip hop!

Disclaimer 1 - Not edited this chapter. Lack of time as am totally fangirling on Emily's return in Criminal Minds.

Disclaimer 2 - Yes. CM premiered yesterday and it was a kick-ass episode.

--- Start fan-girl moment ---

Erin Strauss (Director, BAU): We would be happy to have you back in the team.

Emily Prentiss: May I think about it?

Erin Strauss: Of course.

(10 seconds later)

Emily Prentiss: I am in.

--- Done with my fan-girl moment --

Chapter 22:

"Why do you have a typewriter in your house?" Geet asked as she saw a fairly new typewriter sitting neatly on Maan's spacious work bench.

"That's a present from Emily," said Maan taking off his jacket. He turned around to see Geet looking at the typewriter open mouthed.

"I don't think I have seen one in recent years," said Geet walking towards Maan's work bench. "May I test it?" She asked.

"Sure," chuckled Maan and walked towards the open kitchen. It had been weeks since he had come to his apartment and it had put him in a good mood.

He suspected Geet of hiding something from him; something had made her terribly upset. And if she had come straight to him, it could only mean that she had had some altercation with their past. He sighed as his thoughts went to the events of the year which had had irrevocable impact on his life.

"This is so cool," exclaimed Geet as she typed. "Have you used it before?" She asked.

"I never got a chance to come here and spend time for my own sake. Actually I haven't gotten much time for myself at all," he shrugged. Geet stopped typing and looked at him. He openly stared at her.

"What?" She asked getting self-conscious when he looked at her unblinkingly.

"Nothing," Maan shook his head, obviously lying. Geet didn't press further.

"But why did Emily give type writer as a present?" Geet asked walking towards the kitchen.

"She read in a news website about how the typewriter factories are closing and there are very few left in China, Indonesia and Japan. And it's not long when even they would be closed. She felt terribly nostalgic or something like that and made Satya and I exchange a desktop and a printer for typewriter." Maan finished.

"You traded a desktop to a typewriter?" Geet smiled wanly. Maan chuckled.

"Emily found typists and secretaries of yesteryears who do typing work for notaries for small wages. She felt sorry for them but didn't want to hurt their pride. So she arranged for this trade." Maan replied.

"She would do something like that," said Geet.

Maan fell silent as he emptied contents of the packet in the boiling water. They didn't speak until Maan emptied the contents of the vessel to two plates.

"What are you thinking?" Geet asked, finding Maan's silence out of place.

"Emily doesn't hand out things without any meaning Geet. Handing me that typewriter was her way of reminding me of few things." He said handing her the plate.

"Are you sure you aren't reading too much into a seemingly simplistic gesture?" Geet asked biting on the hot treat and moaned in pleasure as the spices bombarded her taste buds. Maan grinned at her reaction.

"I realized it when she casually said that to replace one type writer we had to offer a desktop and a printer." Maan said. Geet looked thoughtful for a moment and smiled.

"When you think about it that way..." She trailed.

"Typewriters induced discipline in people, demanded attentiveness and forced them to improve the quality of output constantly with time. I think it was her way of telling me to quit wasting time and resources and actually be productive," replied Maan.

"Have you?" Geet asked after several moments of silence. The silence was comfortable and she knew that she was eating food pretty unceremoniously but she didn't care; she was truly hungry.

"Have I, what Geet?" Maan asked looking at her.

"Have you decided what you want?" She asked him. Maan didn't reply immediately but merely continued to eat. Geet wondered if she had enough patience to deal with the same indecisiveness that Maan had generously given her months before. No, not patience; it was mindset.

"My original plan is still intact Geet. I have to find out about Pratap uncle and what he was doing with my father," replied Maan collecting the empty plates. Geet's audible sigh didn't faze him.

"Okay." Her clipped reply only made him smile dryly. He was glad that his back was facing her as he washed the utensils and cutlery. The good mood she seemed to be in was lost as he turned and walked back to the table.

"Geet." He called her. She was lost in her thoughts staring at a stain on the table.

"What?" She asked, flatly.

"I am not going to stop at that," said Maan. She looked confused. "I want to know that truth but that doesn't mean that I am going to stop working for the company or its betterment. I am going to fix the mess that's going on in Khurana Group; starting with Khurana Heavy Transport," said Maan.

When Geet smiled so much that the corner of her crinkled, he knew that he had given the right answer.

"So, what happened?" Maan asked when he felt it was time for her talk. She hadn't opened up yet and if he allowed her to be, she may never would. Geet looked at him wearily and cursed herself to be so...translucent. Though they were best friends, the two were extremely private people never being obvious about their emotions in front of others. The opaqueness that she had developed after their relationship became strained seemed to be losing its density.

"I met Damini aunty today," she blurted before she could change her mind about it. Initially she had debated if she wanted to tell him about her meeting with his mother but after going through every possible comments and counter arguments in her head she realized she still didn't know if it was wise to share with him.

"When?" He asked, his voice barely above whisper.

"I met her this afternoon at a coffee shop. She wanted to know how you are doing," said Geet softly. Maan didn't answer or look up. He was twirling his wrist watch, lost in thoughts.

"How is she doing Geet? Is she alright?" He asked, finally looking up.

Geet felt her throat closing up and found it difficult to breathe. She had expected him to launch a rant on how he didn't want to hear anything about his mother or generally get angry.

Because on his face was the last thing she had expected to see - concern.

"She looked happy at first," said Geet.

"But...?" Maan encouraged her to continue.

"I lost my temper." She finished and let out the air that had started to prick her lungs. Maan only looked confused.

"She said that she wanted you to know about your father that's why she moved to Dileep uncle's house. And that she was terribly lonely so she got remarried." Geet finished. Maan looked at her passively. She took a deep breath. If she had come this far then she might as well tell him everything, she decided.

"I told her that you saw her with her husband in the house," she said softly.

When she saw the myriad of emotions paint his face only then she realized what she had done. What right did I have to make Damini aunty guilty about her act? Maan never brought that topic with her to protect whatever respect they shared for each other. He allowed his mother to believe that he was simply unhappy with the circumstances. But now the relationship between the mother and son had changed.

"I am sorry..." She couldn't continue further.

"Please don't apologize, Geet," Maan said. "Please don't," he repeated. Geet shook her head.

"I don't even remember why I was angry with her, you know?" Maan said holding her hands. Geet looked at him as he spoke and didn't dare to breathe loudly, for Maan's voice didn't rise above whisper.

"Was it because of what I saw or because I felt completely betrayed or because I felt abandoned - I don't know. But I was alone and I couldn't come to you every time something or the other goes on in my life Geet. I was too dependent on you for whenever my emotions seemed to go haywire and besides you were a student yourself." Geet looked at him with slightest hint of accusation in her eyes.

"I now know that I should have but back then I didn't think it through. Alcohol unwound me enough to dissolve the confusion in my head. I partied, dated women and immersed myself into a lifestyle which didn't give me any time to resolve the disorder I was thrown into."

"Maan..." Geet interrupted.

"Geet, hear me out please." His eyes pleaded. She nodded.

"I am tired of blaming mom, dad, Vikram, Mitalee, Varun, you, Pratap uncle, Maya aunty and... well everyone." Maan said. "No, wait. I do blame Vikram and Mitalee. Their competitiveness should be made illegal." He said, smiling. Geet chuckled feebly.

"There are lots of factors that influenced me in being who I am and I believe to an extent I just assumed that things will be fixed when I was on derail mode."

"You were twenty when that happened," she said.

"Yes. I wasn't a child." He replied.

"What brought this on?" She asked squeezing his hands with hers. He didn't answer.

"Everyone," he answered. She looked confused.

"Your annoyance, Satya's support, Emily's frustration, father's guilt, Vikram's brashness, Mitalee's vindictiveness, Varun's vindictiveness and understanding my mother's loneliness." Maan replied. Geet looked at him smiling and understanding what he meant.

It was like collective Karma - one person's decision affected everyone and many people influenced in making a single decision.

To be continued.

Does that mark the end of his indecisiveness?

I think you might have condoned him...a little... in my eyes, for the person he has become. His circumstances forced him...to some extent...though not completely.

But yes, even for a twenty year old, its devastating to see your parent with someone else like that. Cant even begin to understand what he might have gone through. I do believe that being in a vulnerable state of mind , he made some wrong choices

Having said that, I would still maintain that he has a long way to go before he truly proves himself worthy of Geet. But Geet , like you rightly pointed has already accepted him in every way.

Nice part.

Brilliant update. I'm glad Maan and Geet are finally talking to each other properly. But more so that Maan is discussing and admitting to why he is, the way he is and all.

Sorry for this short comment, a stupid physics seminar has left my brain fried 🥱

edit: See, so many stupid spelling mistakes 😆 I've gone crazy. I plugged in one head phones and I got my other headphones and put them in my ear 🤣 then I spent like10 minuts figuring out why the sound isn't working 😆

Great stuff! Loved the bit about the typewriter, i.e the way you included it in the story :)

I'm glad Maan-Geet are more friendly now! Continue soon!
