mnx12 and Vrish - Narakasura captures Airavata and entire elephant herd of more than 1000 which were the direct descendants of Airavata.
Airavata was very special and it could fly. It had 7 trunks and four tusks and was spotless white. It was the nature of Airavata and the colour which made Narakasura greedy and captured the entire brood. Ever since he caputured Airavata, Naraka would alwys fly on it only.
Legend has it that Airavata was born after Garuda was hatched from those very shells of the egg when Brahma was reciting the sacred hyms. Along with Airavat were another 15 or so elephants. But Airavata was special.
Myth also has it that it has the capacity to suck up all the water from its 7 trunks from this and the nether world and disburse it in the clouds and help Indra with rain.
Wikipedia definitely has some account of this. I cannot access it right now but you can definitely check.

right Vinu..i dun get the point behind this abduction theory...it's not a smart move either, considering the fact tht Narka never killed Satyabhama..if he had, his win was sealed..

also, if this SB was asked to take agni pareeksha, she wud have huffed n puffed n went back to dwarka 😆
