Today so many stars appear on TV shows (reality and comedy) to showcase their movie and create a buzz. Now the ques is does it really help the movie? or just the TV show gets higher TRPs and thats it. Do movie stars promoting their movie on TV shows, really help in getting audience to watch the movie and therefore a Hit or does it only gather a decent or bumper opening and later it doesnt effect. So in the end it remains a gimmick.

It is a well planned Gimmick, which some times does wonders for movie and nothing at alll...
Yes, all this promotions just create buzz and contraversies which has nothing to do with movie theme , it helps in initial time and if the story cannot hold audience or has nothing good to offer it falls flat in coming weeks ...
Marketing if done in proper manner will create enough curiosity in ppl to watch movie even if its same old story , seeing actors promotiong their movies in every show irritates and at times make some ppl loose interet in movie before in hand itself...
Only the trp of that particular episode will raise and if that celeb is very famous then it brings more trp ...
If star apperance really makes a movie HIT, we wont be having so many FLOPS

THat is so true. If only appreances helped a superstar's son wld have been a superhero😆
You have rightly pointed that the stars look so rehearsed and pretensious that it is irritating and the whole movie promotion is force fed. Wonder why do producers still resort to this?

Its basically a word of mouth. The more your spread, more chances of attracting viewers to the theaters.

It helps in spreading the word about the upcoming movie in rural areas and small towns where people don't get their info from the Internet or film magazines. TV is still the most popular mode of information for millions of people in India for whatever reason.

like other people already said... it helps spreading that a new movie is coming up in cinemas.. but end the end only the story/performances count if the movie is a hit or flop and not in how many show has X come on TV...

between good topic.. 😊
