Hi Vistaa!! Agree with your point, but the connotation is different in the ridicule. Khushi was made out to be the victim - attacked by those baseless modern girl demons, whereas La is not made out to be a victim but an assault on Nani's sense of sanskar she is trying to uphold in her house.
Hey Anu,(right?)
Very subtle distinction and 👏 to you for pointing it out.
However, I would still like to submit this for consideration:
How much of Khushi's victim status was a function of our sympathies with her as the underdog? That is to say, we, as the audience, love Khushi and felt outraged on her behalf and thought of her as the victim of La-Pam-Sim and their minions' excesses. Certainly, no one in the office, with the exception of Cafe Lady, thought the same. They all were very much, a part of Khushi's ridicule, with ASR being the Ridiculer-in-Chief.
Contrast this to Raizada Mansion: Nani is the only one who is doing the ridiculing there. Anjali, Mamijee and the rest are solidly behind La. They may have their misgivings about La, but those misgivings have not translated into any actions, yet. Nani is the only one proclaiming that La's short clothes are an assault to her sensibilities. Anjali might think that, but that has not stopped her from supporting and aiding the girl. Mamiji is also supporting her...for her own selfish reasons, but supporting her nevertheless.
Much of the audience, on the other hand, views Lavanya as the interloper between Khushi-Arnav, thus is unfavourably inclined towards her, thus feels she is not the victim of Nani's excesses.
So I would say, it is all in our minds.😊
