Chapter 5

Dev and Maan were at the dining table, busy discussing something when Dadi and Naintara joined them.

Dev, who had forgotten Naintara's instructions to avoid speaking about their new guest in front of Maan, spoke up, "Arey only the two of you are here, where is the guest?"

Before Daadiji and Naintara could react, Geet came from behind, "Ji, main yahan hoon". Moreover, Maan looked up from his phone and almost dropped it down when he saw Geet standing there.

Geet stopped midway in her track, with her mouth wide open. Naintara looked at Dev, angrily, while Daadi tried to figure out the changing expressions on Maan's face.

Maan got up from his chair, with his eyes blood red and yelled, "Tum?"

Geet looked around, to see where she could run, in case the dusht daanav attacked.

The rest of them exchanged looks at the table, wondering what would happen next or what to do next.

Maan screamed again and Nakul almost dropped the bowl of soup of Dev.

"Tum yahan kya kar rahi ho?", he asked her again. Geet, for the first time, forgot her speech, looking at the anger on Maan's face. She did not know what to say.

Daadima looked at Geet and told Maan, "Maan, she is our guest for a few days. Will you stop yelling at her and let her have dinner?"

"Guest? My foot!", he said, walking away from the table towards her. Geet stepped back slowly as Maan approached her.

Dev got up from the table and called out, "Bro yeh kya kar rahe hain aap?Relax Bro! Let's have dinner and sort this out".

"Nahin Dev", he said and walked towards Geet. He stopped at a considerable distance from her and said, "Maine tumhari ticket aur tumhare passport ko destroy kar waaya , thaaki tum apni family se door raho. That was your punishment for insulting me, at the wedding. Aur tumhaari itni himmat, ki tum, mere hi ghar mein aake raho?"

"What!", yelled Daadima, when she heard what Maan had said, about meddling with Geet's passport and Ticket.

Geet giggled inwards, for the help he had done.

"Maan, this is not expected of you. Aapne Geet ki Singapore trip cancel karwaaye? How could you do such a thing Maan?", said Daadi, very angrily.

Dev and Naintara remained silent spectators to the entire show going on.

"daadima, I will explain things later on. First, I want this girl out of the mansion. Nakul, jao aur is aurat ke samaan lekhe auo aur bahar pheko", he ordered.

"Haan haan, Nakul Jaaiye aur samaan lekhe aaeye", said Daadima. Maan smirked and looked at Geet happily and Geet almost cried. Daadima continued, "Lekin Geet ke nahin, Maan ke. Kyunki Maan outhouse shift ho rahe hain".

She turned to look at Maan, who looked at her shocked, "Yes Maan. You've punished Geet for insulting you and Now this is your punishment. You will stay in the outhouse till Geet returns safely to her family".

"Yeh ghar mera hain, aur main kahin nahi jaa raha, Daadima", he said, angrily.

"Alright then, all of us will leave the house", she said, turning away from Maan.

Maan walked away angrily screaming, "Nakul mere samaan outhouse mein shift karo".

"Maan, you will enter this house only for breakfast, lunch and Dinner", said Daadima.

Maan stopped, turned back, and looked at Daadima, furiously, "I will not step into this house as long as this girl is here". He grabbed his phone from the dining table and told Naintara, "Naintara, mere breakfast, lunch aur dinner ka inthazaam outhouse mein karao".

"Ji Veerji!", she said. Maan walked away and Dev screamed back, "Bro, dinner tuo karke jaaeye"

Maan screamed back from the living room, "Nahin Dev. Ab main yahan ek minute ke liye bhi nahin rahunga" and walked away to the outhouse angrily.

While he walked towards the outhouse, he thought to himself, "Bahut ho gaya Geet Handa. Aaj Maan Singh Khurana ko apne hi ghar se nikal waadi tumne. Pachtaoge us pal ko, jab tumne is ghar mein aane ki ghalti ki".

Dev told his Daadima, after settling back at the dining table, "Yeh kya kiya daadiji aapne?"

"Oh cut it out Dev. I don't expect Maan to behave so ruthlessly. What has this girl done for him to take revenge this way? How can he separate her from her family?"

Dev tried explaining something when Daadima interrupted, "I do not want to talk about this anymore. Have dinner. Maan's going to be fine".

Dev and Naintara quietly had their dinner. Geet joined them too but was confused. She did not expect all this to happen. She was very grateful to Maan that he had cancelled her trip. However, she did not intend to send him away from his own house. She knew she would have to pay very heavily for this, because Maan Khurana would never forgive and forget.

She tried talking to Daadima while having dinner, "daadiji, aap tension mat lijiye. Mujhe Singapore nahin jaani thi. Main khud bahana doondh rahin thi. It's been really nice that you're Maan, made the job easier for me. I have exams coming up in college and I did not want to go without finishing them".

"Geet aapko explanations aur excuses dene ki zaroorat nahin hain. Maan ne jo kiya ghalat kiya", said Daadima. She finished her dinner and walked away to her bedroom.

Geet, Dev-Tara were left at the table. Geet told Naintara, "Ji aap samajh ne ki koshish kijiye, yeh sab ghalat ho raha hain. Main sach mein Singapore nahin jaana chahti thi. Aap please aapke Maan Veerji ko, aur Daadiji ko samjhaeye. Meri wajah se yeh sab ho raha hain".

Naintara looked sadly at Geet and said, "Don't worry. Kal subeh tak sab theek ho jaega. Abhi tuo Daadiji aur Maan Veerji thoda gusse mein hain. They'll be fine by tomorrow morning".

Dev supported her and told Geet, "She's right. They are angry right now. I'll talk to bro. He will be fine. Aur waise bhi hamare ghar mein yeh sab chalta rehta hain. Daadiji aur Bro, kabhi chup nahin reh sakte hain. Kisi na kisi baath pe unhe jagda hona hi hain. Kyunki dono ke egos itne bade hain. Lekin dono compromise bhi ho jaeyenge, kyunki who dono zyaada der tak ek dusre se baat kare bina reh nahin sakte. Neither daadi can, nor Bro can".

"Yeah. So don't worry about them. You go and sleep happily. Everything will be fine", said Naintara, getting up and calling the servants to clean up the table. She went into the kitchen and set a tray ready for Maan. She came out and told Dev, "Dev, yeh khana Veerji ke liye".

"Theek hain. I'll take it and go. You wanna come?", he asked taking the tray.

"Yeah", she said and turned to Geet, "Geet, good night. Take rest and take care", she said, smiling.

Geet smiled and wished Dev goodnight too. Both of them walked out while Geet sat on the chair, at the dining table. She pondered what went wrong. Maan was wrong in his own way, but he had also done her some good. She decided she had to resolve this issue, since it cropped up because of her. She asked Nakul where daadima's bedroom was. He guided her and she knocked on her bedroom door.

"Come in", said daadima, who was sitting on her rocking chair and reading a book.

Geet walked in, smiling.

"Arey Geet aap? Kya hua, any problem? Neend nahin aa rahin hain?", she asked, keeping the book aside and asking her come to sit on the couch.

Geet explained to her, "Daadiji, main sach keh rahin hoon. Main Singapore nahin jaana chahti thi. Aapke pothe ne jo kiya, accha kiya. Agar main wahan jaati, tuo bore ho jaati. I did not have the courage to explain all that to my brother Brij, so I had to pack and get ready for travelling. Nevertheless, Maan has done me a huge favor and I am so grateful to him. I have exams from next week, in college, but no one at home, bothered about it. Once, the men in the house and my daadima make a decision, none of us is allowed to go against it. So it was decided by them to go to Singapore and their decision became everyone's decision. I worked so hard for one full year in college, agar main final exams nahin deh paati, tuo mera poora year waste ho jaati. Lekin ab aisa nahin hoga. That is because of Maan. Aap please gussa chod dijiye. Main outhouse shift ho jaati hoon aur aap Maan ko wapas bhula lijiye".

"Faisla ho chuki hain beti, ab kuch nahin ho sakta. Maan ko tum nahin jaante ho", she said, feeling sorry that she had sent Maan out, even though she was very angry.

"daadiji, sirf aap Maan ko samjha sakte hain. Please daadiji. I don't like all this happening, because of me. I don't want to create any fights and misunderstandings in your family", she pleaded.

Daadima told her, "Theek hain. Hum Maan se kal subeh baat karenge. Abhi who bahut gusse mein honge".

Geet smiled and wished her good night and walked to her bedroom. She looked around the house, but did not find, Dev and Naintara anywhere. She wondered if they went to bed already and walked into her room. She closed the door behind her and lay on the bed lazily, recollecting everything that happened at the dining table.

Dev tried talking to Maan and convincing him to have dinner and come back home.

Maan told him angrily, "Once a decision is made, Maan Singh Khurana will not step back, even if it costs him his life".

Hmmm, Im feeling sad for Maan, anyone else feeling the same??????? 😆😆😆😆😆 Itne bade Khurana Mansion ko chod kar, phir se outhouse mein aa kar gira... bechara... 😲😲😲😲😲😲
