Ive never posted a topic on this section of IF,so i apologise if this topic isnt suitable for a debate.

Yesterday my 5 year old sister asked a question which i was unable to answer. Not because i didnt know the answer but i just didnt know how to answer the question.

she first asked me when am i going to have a baby, because she wants to see what it looks like...so i answered her back that its going to be cute as her

then the KILLER question was 'HOW ARE BABIES BORN'?my mum was in the same room as us and my face just wentπŸ˜• and so did my mums face.I just didnt know what to say,i mean how are you suppose to explain to a 5 year old that you have to have a sexual intercourse to have a baby.

How would you answer the question if you were in my shoes?People say that it wrong to lie to a child and its good if they know these things from an early age,do you agree?

LOL, this happened when I was 7..I asked my grandmom as to how babies are born and she answered it saying that babies come from women's wombs..so i spontaneously asked her "does that mean there are babies in my womb...i want to take them out" πŸ˜• ..my grandmother was left speechless

Yes, children these days are too inquisitive..but i guess 5 is too early an age..my sister is 7 and thankfully hasnt asked this question yet....yeah, people do find themselves in a fix when kids ask them these sort of questions.....the most honest way to answer this question would be by telling the kids that they would know about it as they grow up......and i dont think kids would go on prodding or make a desperate attempt to know about these things(i can at least speak for myself and i was a normal child so i presume that many kids would be like how i was when i was a kid)....

Im sure everyone has once been in that situation once in their lives.Nowadays children are too advanced, they want to know everything.i dont think theres a problem if you're on your own with a child when they ask you such a question but in the presence of a parent or an elder member of the family can be so embarrassing that you wish the ground swallows you up.

btw i didnt answer my sister, before i had the chance to say anything, she answered her question herself(thanks god)!she goes "oh yeah i know how babies are born, its if you eat too much, the food goes into a baby...i was like πŸ‘πŸ‘

πŸ˜† buffie....you shaitaan!!!! πŸ˜† i can imagine types of questions going on in your mind at this age πŸ˜† ...

btw, my 4 year old ask this question and I showed her "Jumbo" the elephant story. where storks comes at night as God's messanger and gift their babies to each mom. I told her just one night God gave me the best gift in whole world and it was her πŸ˜› i think she bought it and then one day she asked that my friend said that her mom has baby in tummy i said yes, God put that baby gift in tummy and then one day when it was ur birth day Doc. take you out of tummy. and she was happy and convienced. I don't think at age of 4, 5 or 7 you need to tell them "really" how baby comes...! And it totally ok to have curious child..infact it's good that their mind is so curious and oberserve such things....and rather than ignoring them better give them answer that convience them. Also, there is nothing to embarrace when they ask such questions in public. 'coz you dont want to make them feel that they asked something which is to laugh upon or feel bad about.

Well it's wrong to lie a child!! I think it's wrong to lie to anyone πŸ˜‰ All I mean is, if you give them other answer you are not really lieing. They cannot understand some things as they are tooo young. And it's ok to give them explanation similar to their age, in their langauge the way they could understand the situation. Like if parent argue sometime kids get tensed and they ask why are you both fighting and get panic. You don't say I am fighting 'coz of this reason. You just tell them that you are not fighting, just arguing, becuase sometime dad wants to eat at home and mom wants to eat outside and then you explain how they argue with friends when they dont want to play same game. You don't want to show "real" picture to kids all the time when they are tooo young. They take things as it is rather than understand logic or reason behind them. And it's ok if you tell them you are not fighting πŸ˜‰

about your second question. telling them things at early age. Well there are reasons and theories about it. It totally depends upon subject on if you want to tell them on early age or not. Like if he/she is adopted kid if you want to tell the child at early age or not. So it really depends opon the subject.

I am (rather was πŸ˜‰ ) one of those curious children and my mom was fed up from me (she still is) πŸ˜† ... i asked this question... i don't remember my age exactly.. may be 8 or 9... but she said like.. we take babies from the hospital.... i asked "where the babies from the hospital come from??"... and mom replied that "like u see the bird in cartoon giving the babies, similarly an angel comes and delivers the babies" ... i asked "what if the like the bird sometimes exchanges the babies in cartoons accidently.. then in our case.. wht would happen???" mom said "i think that happened in ur case... u simply don't act like my baby πŸ˜† " (she laughed... and she changed the topic quite intelligently... and i didn't bother to ask further questions as in doing so, she might "reject" me as her child!!! πŸ˜† )

One of my friends..(we were discussing THIS topic as how our parents sort of fooled us by giving different answers when we were young!)... her mom told her that "they Bought children from the hospitals.. and pick up the child they think is the sweetest"..(aww 😳 )... and she asked her mom that from where the hospital gets the children .. her mom said "its a patent machine that constantly supplies babies.. so hospitals r never short of babies " πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† (this answer simply cracked me out!!)

From this topic i remembered the scene from "Maine pyaar kyooon kiya" when one kid asked Katrina the same question and after her explaination said "Aunty to kitni bhooli hain .. inhein to kuch pata hi nahin !!" πŸ˜†

I believe that i don't need to say much after sowmyaa di's explaination πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ .. this is a typical parent's answer which is quite practical and leads to less complications in the young brains ... But i remember whan i was 12-13 .. and the girls at school talked abt such things ... we were so curious as wht was told by our mothers didn't seem to b somewht real... actually we used to watch drama serials ... and when the saas of a bahu used to abuse her on not having a child i used to scream up saying "aunty go to the hospital and just request there... don't tease ur bahu..it is the angel's fault....!!" 😳 ... and when i came to knew the "real issue" (thro my friends as my mom hesitated to answer this question each time i asked)...BOY!! I was so embarrased .. and continuously tried to decline this fact by saying ..no no u got the wrong info... it may not b like that... untill finally my mom cleared up the mess...

THis is a fun topic yet an important one. I guess all the children are curious about babies. I remember when my mom was pregnant with my younger bother I asked her " why are you so fat?" She told me "because I have your brother or sister in my stomach." I was like, "How did he get inside?" She said ," when you prey, God gives you present?" " God wanted you to have another sibling to play with or else you will be lonely." I think this is the safe way to answer.
But I can never forget my friend's older sister who told me that hospitals have a long tube system which constantly pops out babies. I remember when I went to see my brother in the hospital, I looked at the vent which was in the room where all the babies were kept and I asked my dad ," that's where he came from?"
Childhood is great............... πŸ˜›

πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜† Nice topic!! I remeber asking the question to my mom!! I asked her that how are babies born! The Answer was somewhat like what DAZLINGFLOWER said. My Mom said that you pray to god and then god puts the baby in your stomach! πŸ˜‰ and after that whenever i used to pray i used to be like OHH NO what if god puts a baby in my tummy...from that day i tried never thinking of that subect whenever i was praying! Not only that when i saw my aunt praying i used to wondering if she is asking for another baby! πŸ˜† πŸ˜† We retarded kids! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰There was another incident around in sixth standard i remeber me telling my dad that its your fault you got girls! Its because of your "Y" chromosomes the egg forms into a girl or a boy!!

Now i regret what i said because when i look back i am like OMG ..i asked my parents that???????

7 is too early according to me for kids to know...i think the right age is 12-13!!
