Chapter 2

Dev got a call from Naintara asking him where they were and Maan decided to walk in beside Dev, very reluctantly. Heads turned as Maan Singh Khurana walked into the venue and women whispered to each other, "Yeh hain , Maan Singh Khurana. Shaadi nahin hua. Sexy and Rocking. Most Eligible Bachelor etc etc".

Maan rolled his eyes and thought, "yeh aurtein' get so influenced by riches, looks and name and fame".

However, he was immediately proved wrong, when he heard a loud husky voice say, "Agar woh Maan Singh Khurana hain, tuo main kya karun aur Nahin hain, tuo bhi main kya karun? Woh bhagwan hain kya, ki tum log itne ghoor ghoor ke dekh rahe ho?"

Maan stopped in his track to see who this girl was. His eyes turned red due to anger, "how dare she?" he thought.

"How dare she say that about me? Aaj tak kisi ne Maan Singh Khurana ke bare aise baath karne ki ghalti nahin ki, aur aaj ek ladki ne, yeh himmat ki?".

Dev understood his bro's anger immediately and smirked. Well, there was nothing else he could do. He could not obviously convince his brother to forgive, forget, and move on. That's was not his brother's attitude. Maan believed only weak people, would forgive and forget because they any which ways would do nothing to take revenge. However, he was not weak, he was Maan Singh Khurana, an owner to a 30000 crore empire. He did not believe in Gandhian ways of dealing with matters. Therefore, before Dev could say anything, he turned to look, in the direction of the loud, screechy voice.

He thought the voice was "screechy" because that voice disturbed his train of thoughts and hurt his ego. He saw a slim, fair girl dressed in a turquoise blue lehenga standing with a group of other girls. Her hair was long and curly and her eyes, light brown. She looked "okay" he thought, but her voice irritated him.

He stared at her angrily for some time and then asked Dev, "who the hell is she?"

"Bro, shaadi mein haazaron ladkiya aate hain. Mujhe kaise pata hoga?", asked Dev.

"tumhein pata hona chahiye Dev, kyonki tumhari capacity sirf haazaron ladkiyon ko yaad rakhne ki nahin hain, karodon ko yaad rakh sakte ho tum. Isiliye, pata lagao".

"thanks for the compliment bro. But one quick question, am I to believe that his highness, Maan Singh Khurana, has started to take interest in girls?", said Dev, with a wicked smile.

"Maan Singh Khurana has never and will never take interest in girls and women. But always takes interest in people who wrong him or go against him", he said, arrogantly.

"Okay Bro, as you say! By the way, that girl is Geet Handa, granddaughter of Devanshi Handa", he said, quickly.

"Who is Devanshi Handa?", he asked, curiously.

"Bro, she is granny's friend. Aur yeh wahin ladki, hain jise aapne bina dekhe bina baath kiye, reject kiya tha", said Dev.

"Maine daadima se bahut pehle hi kahan ki mujhe koi shaadi waadi nahi karni. Lekin aap samajthe nahin ho. Isilye, maine us ladki ko reject kar diya. Waise mujhe lagta hain, meri decision bilkul sahi tha. Awaaz suni uski, God, that voice can bring buildings down. And she is not my type".

"tuo aapki type kaun hain, Bro?", asked Dev, smiling.

"Mere liye koi ladki bani hi nahin, Dev. Saare ladkiyan tuo tumhare liye hi bane hain", said Maan, hitting Dev slightly on his shoulder and still staring at Geet. Geet was talking to a couple of young girls and a couple of other older woman.

Maan turned away from her and thought to himself, "Gosh, yeh aurtein. Miss Geet Handa, main tumhe chodunga nahin. You have no idea whom you've meddled with".

They later found Daadima and Naintara and sat with them for some time. Dev, who was hungry, kept pestering naintara and daadi that they should go for dinner and Maan was busy with his mobile and phone calls.

Daadima rolled her eyes and thought to herself, "Hey bhagwan, Maan ko banate waqt, aapne kya isme masti naam ki cheez dhalna bhool gaye. Jab dekho kaam".

Naintara was busy socializing with people and finally ran into the group where Geet was there too. Though everyone in the Khurana household knew, Maan had rejected Daadima's friend's granddaughter, they did not have enough mettle to question Maan's action. Naintara instantly realized that this was Geet. She had seen her photographs in the album that Devanshi had sent. However, did not mention anything about it. Because her veerji's decision, to reject a girl, without even looking at her photo or talking to her, had not ended on a good note among the families. Moreover, Geet's brother Brij and her uncle were not happy with the decision of Maan and also Devanshi to get a match like Maan, who was arrogance and attitude personified.

Devanshi had conveyed the same ill feeling among her family members, towards Maan to Savitri Khurana. Savitri Khurana had understood how wrong Maan was and apologized for his ruthless behavior. She also promised Devanshi that she would never bring the topic of Maan and Geet's marriage again between the both of them.

While talking to Naintara, a couple of girls in the group accidentally seemed to talk about how handsome and hot Maan Singh Khurana was. Naintara noticed geet completely uninterested in the conversation and tried to change the topic a couple of times. None of them in the group knew Naintara belonged to the Khurana family. In addition, she did not reveal it either. She listened to all their praises of Maan and also listened to Geet's cribbing about Maan and smiled to herself. She registered in her head, that she had some gossip to tell Daadima and Dev at the end of the day.

While continuing with the conversation, some of the women and the girls had to excuse themselves from the conversation for various reasons. Only Naintara and Geet were. They initially looked at each other, smiled, and looked around for some time. Finally, Geet realized she was getting too bored and she had been quiet for too long a time, of 7 minutes, 52 seconds. Moreover, beyond this if she kept quiet she feared she would forget language and speech. So started some random topic with Naintara.

Naintara thought Geet was interesting because she would not stop talking for even a second. She spoke about everything on the planet, from politics to sports to cars to fashion to finance and lastly came to the topic Naintara was waiting for- "Maan Singh Khurana".

Geet started, "aapne us Maan Khurana ko dekha?" she asked, softly.

"Haan!", said Naintara, "aaj shaadi mein aaye hain, veer" and stopped when Geet's eyes opened wide in shock and Naintara immediately corrected herself and said, "aaj shaadi mein aaye hain, we heard", she said, smiling.

Geet relaxed and said, "We heard? Aapke saath aur kaun hain?"

"My husband, Dev and my daadima", she said, politely, continuing to smile.

"Oh nice! Waise kya aap maan singh khurana ko personally jaante hain?", geet asked.

"ah, aap bura na mano tuo kya main ek sawal kar sakti hoon? Why is that you have so much of dislike for that man. You don't seem to be comfortable at the mention of his name or all you do is crib about him.kyon?", asked Naintara.

"nahin, aisi koi baath nahin. Bas who naam hume accha nahin lagta", said Geet.

"Ok!", said Naintara not wanting to talk anything against that girl or against her veerji. Later, they left for dinner and Naintara joined the Khurana's for dinner.

She narrated the incident to Dev, who kept smiling all through the conversation. It was almost one in the night and daadima and Naintara were bidding everyone "bye's".

Naintara and Daadima ran into Geet and Devanshi. And Devanshi spoke up, "nice to see you Naintara. Kaisi ho?"

Before Naintara could respond, Geet asked her daadima, "aap inhe kaise jaante hain. Aur inka naam Naintara hain? Humne tuo itni der baat ki aur humne poochna bhool gaye".

"I know her, ever since she married Dev and entered the Khurana household. She is savitri Khurana's youngest and only bahu", said Devanshi and Savitri contributed, "And my favorite too".

Geet was confused. If she was Savitri Khurana's youngest bahu then how come she does not know about Maan Khurana.

"woh dusht danav shayad Naintara ko bhi aaj tak dekha nahin hoga", thought Geet and giggled to herself. And Naintara smirked too, understanding what was going through Geet's head.

Naintara took the opportunity and said, "Daadima hum chalte hain, Maan Veerji hamara intezaar kar rahe honge. He does not like to wait". Devanshi nodded and smiled and Savitri hugged her and said "bye".

Geet's mouth fell wide open when she heard Naintara mention, Maan as "Maan Veerji".

Naintara turned to Geet and said, "aapse mil kar bahut khushi hui, Geet. Stay in Touch" and smiled.

Geet, who was at loss of words, just shook her head and smiled feebly. She watched the Khurana women head towards their car and asked her daadima, "Whom does Naintara address as Maan Veerji?"

Her daadima, Devanshi scanned her face for some time and said, "Maan Singh Khurana" and walked away to greet and bid a farewell to other people.
