A small but significant moment : the "going" of Vasant's photo from Gulaal's room... (Kes-Guls's room)

Though executed clumsily by our dearest unbearable new Paan ba, this removal of Vasant's photo by her seems , in retrospect, a very silently significant moment in the show...

In a way, the family itself , represented by Paan ba , was taking away the photo and taking away from Gulaal her right to still be Vasant's wife... leaving her no choice except belonging to Kesar...

Not that Vasant will ever stop mattering to Gulaal or Kesar , but the position that the photo had held in Gulaal's life and her day to day existence is well known to us ...

On a lighter note i am getting this eerie feeling that it could well be Vasant's atma entering Paan ba and causing her to remove the photo and causing her to almost banish Gulaal , so that Kesar and Gulaal move out and live peacefully on their own...

I thought of that too. Gulaal kind of allowed the photo to leave too without much of a fight when that very photo used to follow her like a shadow but now she is more concerned about leaving Kesar than anything else. Very subtly done!

Well, its good in one way only, now she can move from the past and concentrate on her present.

What Panba have done was needed in a way. Though she did it to taunt Gulaal and even it hurt her for the time being, it is going to act in a positive way. She doesnt need a mere portrait to remember him. He is so a part of her in some way or the other.
If you think in the other way too it sounds a bit odd to have Vasanth's portrait in Gulsar bedroom. It could stop her from getting closer to Kesar, it is really hard for her to move on with Kesar in presence of Vasanth(looking at her)even if it is a mere photo, as she values it more than a lifeless thing.

Yeah, the removing Vasant Pic from Gulaal room's is significant and on subconscious level i was thinking on same line too. Kesar has replaced the Vasant from its position for Gulaal its seems. He seems to be taking over his place from her mind, heart or even soul.

ya, very subtly done ...its almost as if Gulaal herself is also not realising that her past is slowly moving out of her life and Kesar's real presence , so devoted and soul-stirring is taking its place

Ya, its good for her - poor thing , she had led many long years of her life treating the photo as almost alive and her only source of strength... now Kesar is there, giving her his devotion and support...she needs to acknowledge that ...she deserves it , after such an austere life...

you are right, that portrait was always there as if vasant himself was alive in her life ...he still remains an ever important part and that will never change even without the portrait , but she needed to move on to reality and this world ...where she needs someone like Kesar to help her through her life in a human way...

Surely Kesar has done so- you have put it beautifully - and it was most evident when he was playing the drum and she saw Vasant in him...in a way he has a part of vasant in him , being his brother ..and yet in so many other ways he is our unique Kesar ...whom we so adore for all his human imperfections and his larger than human heart and devotion to Gulaal ...indeed his true love like rerely seen before in any couple...
