In the Patwardhan household, the family members are agitated over the issue of Akruti, and her father suggests that the only way is to have a spring cleaning to wash out the dirt from the house, and when Sanket asks him to clarify, he openly suggests that Akruti should abort the child. Sridhar is licking his wounded ego, and others notice it, and Rohini wants to rub salt on his wounds, and tells him, that he is only concerned about himself, and not what the others are going through. She tells him, that even their name is sullied, and when Sridhar comes to threaten Rohini, his brother stops him, and asks him to be calm.
Daksh and Naina enter and they suggest that the boy, Ayush will be dragged to the court. His aunt, Shyamal, feels that it is not a good idea, as he being a boy will be less hurt than her own daughter who will have to face the humiliation, as well as this unwanted child. From Akruti's behaviour she seems to say, that she wants to keep the child, and accepts all consequences of her actions, which the others feel were, inconsiderate, and done without thinking of what would happen to them. Actually, she would not have thought of this in such detail, as everything that was happening in her life was a reaction to the rigid atmosphere in her life, and a need to get out of it, and feel the fresh air of liberation. In her youthful exuberance, there was no inkling in her, of what would happen. She trusted a guy, more out of self deception, than observance of his character, even when he left tell-tale signs of his intentions, the simple girl, who had not been exposed to the world, and its going-ons, was suddenly thrust into it, by chance.
The adults too, are living in the past, and have not woken up, to the modern times, and have not taken the trouble to understand, what goes on in their lives, nor do they show any interest in it. They are engrossed in the past, its traditions and rules, which have no relevance in the lives of the modern children, who are exposed to other currents in their schools, from their surroundings and trends which are visible to them, but escape the notice of their elders. It is the younger ones, like Daksh and Naina, who have the best of both worlds, try to come to the rescue of Akruti, and Naina follows her to her room, to counsel her, while Daksh tries to persuade the rest in the house, about the court case, which Sonakshi, whom they all appear to suddenly trust, to be a good lawyer, and able to pursue the case in court, a sentiment, which is difficult for the viewers to digest, but the story tellers have managed to persuade all the characters in the show to go along with, and we are now in a new flow, where this giddy headed girl has metamorphosed into a competent lawyer. The father and mother of Akruti have no interest in the case, more out of self preservation, than a trust in the competency of this newcomer Sonakshi. So, the first part of the serial, is all about the family members licking their own wounds, complaining about its pain, and trying to find a recourse to address it, while the real wounded person, Akruti, is left to her own devices, under the guidance of her cousin Daksh and his friend Naina.
We are given a glimpse into Sonakshi's home. The giddy headed girl, has truly metamorphosed, so much so, now her mother takes her seriously. She tells her mother, about how Akruti was ditched by her boy friend, and has now to carry on with his child of whom, she is three months pregnant. The mother is in a daze, and with a distant look on her face, and seeing it, her daughter asks her what she is thinking about. Here, only she knows about it. She had seen, her boyfriend's picture some time back, in the frame shop, and when the girl came to take it, saying that it was her father's picture, she was busy on the phone, and by the time she turned the girl had gone, and she tried to chase her, but saw another girl, and never happened to see the child of this boy, Diwakar, of whom, she too had an illegitimate child, whom, she had to give up, when she was one year old. Perhaps, she thinks of the parallel, where the lawyer who fought her case, and arranged to hand over the child to the father's care, was none other than Sonakshi's father. Just as Sonakshi wants to fight the case, in order to get Daksh obligated to her, in order to marry him, perhaps her father, Mr. Joshi, too might have had similar intentions on Supriya, the mother of Naina. These thoughts bug her, and she asks Sonakshi, if Akruti will bring the child into this world, and she tells her that there is no other way as she is past 3 months. Again, Supriya must be thinking of her plight, and her thoughts go to Akruti's welface, and she says, "Poor Akruti". Her daughter has no idea, what is going on in her mother's mind.
At the Patwardan house, there is more discussion now, with Vibha who has come home, and she counsels, Shyamal and tells her that she is the mother, and that relationship can not be taken away from Akruti, in spite of all her mistakes. They have to bear the pain. Shyamal, complains that she could not have banked on her husband, and had to take care of her children all by herself, and she is hurt, because her daughter did not think of the consequences - but how could she, when she would not pursue her inquiry, once she had suspicions, and got off the train, before finding out what was going on in her child's life. Even when the proposal was brought, Akruti tried to tell her, but the mother in her anxiety to please the guests, and fit in to the mold of tradition, ignored her child's request. Had she known it then, the matter could have been hushed up, but here the fault of the adult is overlooked by the prosecutors of justice.
Shridar Kaka, to get some relief from his anxiety, goes to the paan shop, to have some paan, - a beetle leaf and araknut concoction, and there he meets a friend, who comes on a motor cycle, and greets him, and Kaka, finds that he has met him after a long time. As they talk, the subject of the broken proposal comes, and he tells Kaka, that the whole town is abuzz, with the news, of his daughter's failed proposal. Kaka gets angry with him, and tells him, that the news is false. Then another friend comes, and asks, if this was because of the boy, with whom she used to be seen. Kaka says, that it could not have been his daughter. But he insists that his own daughter told him, that she saw them, and she could not have been wrong. Kaka is upset, and is bent upon finding a solution to this madness himself, and comes home.
In the pre-cap, we are given an inkling on what Sridhar Kaka is up to. He has brought a jerry can of kerosene, and is pouring it round the bed of Akruti who is sound asleep. By the time he reaches the end of the round, Akruti opens her eyes, and stares at him...
In another scene, Daksh and Naina are talking to each other, and Daksh is telling her that they should inform the family as soon as possible...
In Joshi home, Sonakshi is with her father, both sober, and conspiratorial, and she tells him, that she will fight the case, as this will make Daksh feel indebted to her, as he loves his cousin a lot. Like father, like daughter. If you know what I mean, from my thesis, that this Father did the same thing to his wife, whom he blackmailed into marrying him, for resolving her illegitimate daughter's issue. His daughter wants to do the same trick, but this time we know her intentions from her own words, that it is not for Akruti, but to get hold of Daksh.
