Similiarities between IPKKND & Pride and Prejudice

Okay, this is a random topic..but I can't help but notice that there are a ton of similarities between this show and the book, Pride&Prejudice. Of course, that makes it all the more interesting.

This is really random of course😳 And only proceed if you're familiar with P&P or else it'll make no sense, lol.

Arnav / Mr.Darcy - Both extremely rich, talk of status, connections. They're both arrogant and insecure about showing their emotions. They both almost NEVER smile. Arnav gives a speech to Khushi about how she will never truly fit in with his family because of her low status. Darcy did the same in his confession to the female lead, Elizabeth.

Khushi / Elizabeth - Sweet, headstrong, care about their family. Misjudge the male protagonist at first but eventually falls for them.

Buaji / Mrs.Bennet - This one is the closest! "Hey Nand Kishore!" = "Oh Mr. Bennet!" Melodramatic. End of story.

Akash = Bingley, like a brother to Darcy. Akash is Arnav's cousin brother. Both Bingley & Akash are shy and like the female protagonist's sister.

Payal = Jane. Softhearted, can't really think bad about anyone unless they give her a real reason too. Jane ends up with Darcy's best friend/brother. Same in this case :)

just mentioned this fact in another post by current- thee r indeed many english majors here! Sonali has picked up on the pnp reference to. And mami (hello hi bye) can be a good interpretation of Lady Catherine de B!

LOL! Anjali is mr Ds poor little sister who got cheated bt mr wickham when young!! but i so dont want that to happen here as anjali is so wonderful- she cannot be shown t have been such a poor judge of character!

ms univ- thanks for the link- very interesting indeed! however, i do not believe asr is darcy- he is too ruthless for that and ought ot be so- until, hopefully jalebi's love softens him up and makes him all mushy inside!LOL!

I love P&P also so its perfect how IPPKND is almost like an Indian modern day version of it :)

i actually started watching ipkknd b'coz it was written somewhere that its similar to P&P and I must say its almost 85% similar and nicely adapted for indian scenario. almost 2 decades back there was a serial called 'trishna' on doordarshan which was a direct lift of the jane austen book page by page including dialogues. but ipkknd is presented much better b'coz its the same storyline told differently. i hope they continue in the same vein and not degenerate like most other serials into 'kitchen politics' 'saas-bahu' etc,etc
