Hi. I am new to the forum but have been watching HSL.
I find it very surprising (and sometimes annoying) that Koyal just sits and looks pretty but Sejal has been doing housework and cooking etc.
Why this difference? Even though Koyal is supposed to the the badi bahu...shouldnt she be shown to do some household work? Why is Baa or Leela not giving her stuff to do?

It's only her first week - maybe someone will something to her and she'll start. She doesn't look the type that will do anything anyway which is fine I guess since Sejal wants to jump in and do everything. There are servants in the house but if she wants to be all mahaan and do everything herself why blame Koyal? She didn't say she doesn't want to do anything - in fact no one has even told her or Sejal for that matter.
No matter how bad Koyal maybe at least from the iron incident its evident that Sejal will be the reason there will be problems, even the way she's asking her hubby why no one said anything to Koyal and how come she got shouted at - if she had accepted her mistake maybe she would have also got the same treatment. But instead she decided to just stand there like a stone and watch Koyal get thrashed by Ba.

I dont see why anyone should be forced to do something they dont want to do. It is all a matter of choice.
If someone likes to cook, they should cook. If someone likes to clean, they should clean. Why should anyone be compelled to do anything that they dont want to do?
Particularly in a household like the Parekh one, where they are economically well-to-do and can hire cooks, maids and so on and so forth - so it is not necessary that family members engage in division of labour.
Do you think that Neeta Ambani cooks in her own home ...or that the ambani daughter in law will have to do it when she gets married to Neetas son.
Leela and ba were doing fine in terms of cooking and cleaning before the bahus came into their own home. So there is no need for them to sack maids and compel koyal or sejal to do housework.
New bahus do not mean new maids.
Sejal enjoys cooking and doing housework, so those are her hobbies. She is happy to do all these things and it brings her joy.
Doing all these things will have no joy for Koyal - she sees then as a burden.
I believe that it is worse to force people who have no joy in that activity to do it.
We do not see the full ambit yet - Koyal may have other talents etc. which may come to light later.
