Ather Habib's comical innings
We have seen Ather Habib as the adorable, caring big brother and husband as Shourya Maheshwari in STAR Plus' prime time show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Now he is trying his luck in comedy by participating in Sony's new show Comedy Ka Naya Daur.
Ather is very excited about his new innings and says, "It's a wonderful show and I will get a lot of scope to show my histrionics, mimicry which I used to do during my theatre days in Patiala. Last year, I was offered Comedy Circus but due to hectic shooting schedules, I didn't take up. Now that I was offered again, I feel it is a golden chance to improve in my comic skills, which is very important for every actor."
Further he adds, "Over here, I will get to play different characters like in the first two episodes, I play a Haryanvi character, then an old man. And in the forthcoming episode, I will play a Gay character too which should be interesting to watch. It is very difficult to make people laugh but I am trying my level best to impress the judges and my fans."
Talking about the judges Archana Puran Singh and Sohail Khan, he says, "Both the judges are very encouraging and always motivate us to do our best. I was amazed to hear Sohailji say that he has seen me on television and I am a good actor. I think it is very nice of him."
Apart from Judges, he has a cool rapport with his co-contestants too. "Everyone is very nice on the show. Among all the contestants, I really enjoy Krushna Abishek, Sudhesh Lahiri, Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singhji's comedy a lot."
Who are his favourite comedians in films and television? "Amitabh Bachchan in Namak Halal for sure. Among the current actors, I feel everyone from Govinda to Saif Ali Khan have great comic timings, while on television I really like Krushna Abhishek, Kapil Sharma a lot. Govinda and Raveena Tandon's Dulhe Raja, Here Pheri, Namak Halal are my favourite comedy films while I love TV shows like Office Office on Sab TV & Sarabhai vs Sarabhai."
