PART - ' 131

Dev: Radhika, I am also concerned about you the same way you do for me. There is no difference. I am noticing this lost thought of yours for few times now. If there is anything in your mind let me know.

Radhika: actually there is n...

Dev: and don't say there is nothing, ok, as I know there is something going on

Radhika: I thought of telling you this earlier too, but did not get the courage to ask you

Dev: what? Why you need courage to ask me something, I think we are more than that

Radhika: I mean

Dev: just tell me Radhika

Radhika: I want to go somewhere

Dev: that's all, where you want to go?

Radhika: with our angel

Dev: with angel!, where?

Radhika: only once

Dev: ok baba, but tell me where you want to go?

Radhika lowered her face: to the asram

Dev: asram!

Radhika: I know we put everything back , but once, just to tell them thanks, this happiness of ours is because of them only, right. So once I want to take her there and show them our angel and tell them that she is here because of them, their care, their support

The tears just rolled down her eyes and she rested her head over his shoulder : please just once. They gave me shelter, they gave me food, they gave me

Dev: enough radhika, I know. But why did you hesitate to tell me this, thinking it may pain me, no Radhika never. It will be a blessing to take her over there. I am with you Radhika, what I am not getting is why you took so long to tell me this, why I needed to force you tell me this?

Radhika: I don't want to remind you on our past

Dev with a smile: radhika, its ok, it won't hurt me, we passed that , but that doesn't mean that we have to stop talking about it or forget about it. It's our life

Radhika: but what do we tell our parents

Dev: why?

Radhika: I don't know

Dev: leave that to me, ok, I am here for you. If there is anything in your mind just tell me, I will take care of the rest, ok.

Radhika moved her head slightly back and looked at his face and tried to give a smile.

Dev: um, ye hui na bath

Radhika felt shy that she lowered her gaze again

Dev just smiled wide and said: I think our angel needs her bed now

Radhika got up and took her from his hold and placed over the bassinet and they both watched her as she smiled in her sleep.

Dev: so you think she is happy about our trip, or she is seeing some beautiful dreams

Radhika smiled again as Dev went to turn off that light

Next day morning itself Dev went to haweli and was back of dadaji with questions and got excited to know that he is again going with the villagers to look for the plantation needs. He went along with his dadaji and was with him for the rest of the day.

Sushma made nice sweets and she came to varma house. They shared that moment of happiness sharing the sweets and having Chudki laying on floor, talking and complaining. Mohan and yeshpal were basically talking about up coming mela in the village.

Suchi accompanied Dev and Radhika to the asram. Dev was sitting at the travellor's seat on the front side , whereas Radhika and Suchi shared the back seat.

Suchi: I also wished to see that place , and I am glad you gave me this opportunity.

Dev: what?

Suchi: nothing, I said I wished to visit that place one day and never thought it will be like this. So I am happy. Looking at Radhika she said: yes beta, it is one of the best decision, it is kind of saying thanks to them.

Radhika acknowledged with a smile

Suddenly chudki showed her small irritation

Suchi: ok baba, you sleep, we won't talk ok. I know you love this car ride, right.

Radhika: I think so too

Suchi: um, kids are like that

Time was passing and Dev was paying attention to the passing streets and small shops and then it entered into the empty long road. His eyes caught the attention of the familiar places that is passing by. Suddenly his eyes wanted to spot on one place, where he stood out, waiting for that driver to come up. He saw him coming with a small bag in his hand and then then, what is his name. Dev closed his eyes to recollect his name, no , no , he doesn't know the name. How did I forget to ask him his name, who was he to me? He was just a driver, who actually annoyed me, then, then why, why am I thinking about him now. Maybe because I am passing by his street, or maybe because i travelled with him trough all these way. But what was that he talking about? He was asking about me, he was praising his son, he is dreaming of buying a new car, but how can a driver buy a lexury car, why he need that? Oh no it is not him, it was his son's dream.

The driver was smiling all through his talk, he is loud and he is happy. I am the one who is sitting tensed, why should I sit tensed, Radhika is here with me, our angel is with me, then why should I be concerened, why I am tensed?

Suddenly Dev opened his eyelids and found himself in sweat, he looked at the driver whose eyes were fixed on to the front road. Dev wiped off his forehead, and turned to make sure his family safe, felt the relief as he saw Radhika sitting with closed eyes and his little one sleeping in Suchi's lap.

Suchi: you ok beta?

Dev jerked slightly: ha mom

Suchi: need something

Dev: water

Suddenly Radhika opened her eyes and picked the water bottle and gave to Dev

Taking few gulps he said: sorry, you were sleeping right?

Radhika: no, I was just

Suchi: Radhika, have some snacks

The time passed by, Dev tried to keep himself engaged , looking at his family , talking about Chudki, asking driver about his job, and then seeing how comfortably his little one sleeping in the middle of all these noices.

They got down near the hate. Dev was trying to get someone to open those big locks, and the driver was calling out too, giving him the voice.

Suchi: what is it Dev?

Dev: we need to get soemone to open this lock?

Suchi: what , it is open

Dev: really!

he checked it and found strange and he looked at his side and found the space empty, then how did he hear that driver's voice??!!

They walked into the asram. Suchi was exploring around, and was amazed by seeing the neatness and more than anything the feeling of a cold atmospehre under the big tree shade. She saw kids walking in lines at a distance going somehwere

Radhika: they are going to the dining room, it is lunch time

Suchi smiled

They met a new sanyasini there at the office who asked them to wait. Soon malathi showed up

She came with a smile: you came back with the baby, that is so nice of you

Radhika got from her seat and gave pranam.

Malathi responded back and then looked at Chudki who was sleeping comfortably in Suchi's lap

Malathi: so she is sleeping, nice. Come Mathaji is waiting for you guys. Nice timing, she will be leaving to abroad today evening.

Dev: Oh, so we made it

Malathi: yes you did

They walked into that small office place inside. Mathaji greeted them and then looked at malathi. Malathi went inside and soon came back with glasses of juices.

Time ticked by and they were about to leave

Suchi folded her hands together in front of Her , thanking her for saving his daughter and her grand kid. No words came out, but she said those in her mind only.

Mathaji with a smile understanding the unspoken words: when God is there, nothing bad will happen to good people, trust Him, He has plan for everyone, and we have to follow Him to the destiny.

Radhika touched her feet and took the blessings, so did Dev and Suchi. Mathaji touched on Chudki's forehead and blessed her saying: she herself is a saint, she suppose to bless me

They turned to leave, mathaji called Radhika.

She stayed back

Mathaji: are you still doing the jaap

Radhika with a smile: yes Mathaji

Mathaji: ha, I can see that, this is not that Radhika who left here, you continue your journey and may God bless you

Radhika touched her feet again and left

Malathi : we should have offered the lunch, but Dev is not allowed to come inside. If you wish you can go to the other asram

Dev: no thanks, we just had our food.

Malathi: that is good

Radhika gave the sweets boxes that she brought along with them as a token of thanks.

Malathi smilingly: I will make sure that it is distributed among the kids in the evening, they love sweets.

Suchi walked around the place little bit and sensed a strange smell from nearby

Dev took the baby and went and sat on the temple steps. While Radhika was talking to Malathi. They found Suchi standing near the tree

Malathi: you love this flower?

Suchi jerking slightly: hu, ha, this is new to me, what is this tree?

Malathi: this is sarppagandhi, or nagalinga flower

Suchi: what?

Malathi picked one of the flower : see look at this, there is Siv Linga in the middle and then there is snake heads on the top protecting it, . So the name .but still it let the bees to come inside and have the honey.

Suchi: interesting

Malahi: its all God's leela

Suchi just smiled and walked back to where Dev is sitting

By then sulochana came running with a wide smile on her face: oh ho, where is my little radhika, let me see. when I heard that you are here, my mind was not stopping back to run to here. But you know it was the lunch time and I cannot get out from there. Now I am free, come let's go home. Come come

Saying that she took the baby from Dev's hand with all the freedom: come here little Radhika, let me see, oh see , she looks like Radhika only, ye, you sleeping, wake up, look who is here, look at me beta, wake up

Malathi: sulochana ,calm down, you are very excited

Sulochana: what else, she is my baby, heina beta, wake up, see who is here, see there is one more bootha over there, waiting for you,

While walking out from the premise Dev thought he saw a familiar face, that just flashed in front of his eyes. He shut his eyes and opened it and saw that figure walking away.

He heard sulochana's raised voice of excitement: yesterday also we were talking about you only Radhika, talking about your baby. See how true it came, atleast you came to saw us na, see . Oh look at her she is sleeping, I want to hear her voice, wake up beta, see , look at this boothi one time, let me see your eyes, let me hear your voice.

Suchi did not say anything , just walked along seeing the happiness of this lady. She knew sulochana thru Dev's words, and knew Radhika stayed with them for months.

As they walked along the road , for a second he thought the rain drops are falling over him. He raised his head to look at the clear sky, and then walked with a smiley face.

Soon the shopkeeper also joined. They were managed to get two chairs outisde for Dev and Suchi while Radhika went inside.

Time paseed by and it was time to return

Sulochana: beta. Now even if you forget us also there is no problem, atleast you remembered us once, that is more than enough for both of us, you don't know how much happiness you brought to us today, maybe the happiest time in our life foreever, we were able to see our grand kid's face. We know we couldn't provide all those comfort here, but you were just like our daughter only.

Shopkeeper: ye , they are leaving, go get it

Sulochana as if recollecting: OMG! How can I forget, one minute beta, just one minute.

She went in quick and came back quick with a small gold chain in her hand: this is for our grand kid. We brought this way back thinking one day you will come back to show us our baby. See we are right, you came.

They were walking back to the car, Sulochana held the baby in her hand: ye, I couldn't hear your cry, but you looked at me. Come often ok. We don't have much to offer but what ever we have we will share ok. See the mind's play, we wished to see the baby once and now after seeng her , our mind is not satisfied, we want to see her again and again.

Suchi noticed those tear filled eyes as their car took the move. She sat quiet, thinking how can someone so strange can become so close within few days. Maybe this is called destiny. Mostly everyone sat silently inside the car.

I don't know whether you get time to read my notes. But in Dev's scenes, it is interplay of both past adn present, i can see it clearly in my mind as i visualize everything, wish i could show that on screen, but i hope i am not confusing you guys, this si the way it is coming to me, and i can't change it. hope you can connect it, or let me know.
