Meg Cabot is good, I also like british authors melissa nathan and hester browne, and I think you'll like sophie kinsella books barring the shopaholic series, and my childhood favorite was sharon creech's chasing redbird...if you're into mystery try lois lowery and joan lowey nixon...for a scaryish/mystery try Wait Till Helen Comes!
