Even if there were just two singers in Deewana group, it couldn't increase their area, thus their voting in numbers. Even in the UK people thought the groups have an advantage of being in few numbers and it will ease the voting for them, while in fact only one band managed to reach height of success; JLS.

Sorry to differ, but look at it this way, Sajda sisters have 3 contestants. Now there will be people (general audience) that vote for the group, then say one sister had 30 friends, other had 100 and third had 50, so the first 30 will vote for the group mainly because they support the 1st sister and the 2nd and 3rd set of friends would do the same for the sister they support.

If you were a contestant, would your family and friends not vote for you (besides the general indian audience) ?

^ You could also look at it that the Sajda sisters belong to the same native and obviously their natives will vote for them, even if their family members don't. Same is with Deewana group belong to the same area, you got their entire area voting for them, etcetera. Even if they got much more friends in numbers (to which I agree), their friends also belong to their natives. I have seen the Indian voting system and people rather look at ones background/area instead of their talent. I remember such a fuss was made in Sa Re Ga Ma a very long time ago where people complained that most votes came from Assam and nearly all the Assamese votes went to one contest; An Assamese. Depending on how popular a show is in which area, per there the voting system works. Nonetheless, in all fairness, you can't compare Sajda Sisters and Deewana group to Manjeera or Shovon. If you think the groups are still in thanks to their size and numbers, then who is responsibly Kartar Singh's survival? Old-age houses?

I was never comparing the Sajda or Deewana groups to Shuvon or Manjeera. I simply said that besides the general audience who vote for their favourites, there are definitely going to be personal friends who would vote for their friends. For example, Sajda sisters may have their own individual friends who would vote for the group to mainly support their friend or same with Deewana group with 7-8 people, so in long run, the groups are very likely to get larger number of votes. Also in India its more so because people vote out of emotions a lot more (that probably explains Kartar's survival)
