After reports of Riteish-Genelia's alleged wedding surfaced, the Hindu priest, now, wants to make the most of the opportunity.
While Vipul wanted an actor to play a priest, director Nishikant Kamat insisted on a real Pandit. "This is the price we pay for my director's penchant for realism. It was he who suggested that we get a real priest. How were we to know that the priest would suddenly claim he had performed a real wedding," Vipul told the tabloid.Vipul, who feared other Hindu organisations could create a scene over the episode, clarified Genelia is a Christian, "But I'd like to remind the potential trouble-makers that Genelia is not a Hindu, and therefore the Hindu wedding rituals are not applicable to her."
He denied this to be a publicity stunt. "Are people really saying I'm doing this for publicity? If I wanted to carry this absurd matter forward, I'd have got some Hindu organisation to jump in myself. There were at least a dozen news channels wanting to do special programme on the so-called marriage. I declined."
Surely John and Genelia don't consider themselves married. While Genelia is involved with Riteish in a serious relationship, John is reportedly dating an investment banker Priya Marwah after his split with Bipasha Basu.
