šŸ˜› It should not take many films to prove yourself if you have what it takes. It took 4 films for Aish to prove herself. Rani and Preity had it with their first few films. It took Kat a couple of years to prove herself as well. However, the new generation of actresses have not had it so lucky. It took Sonam a couple of years to have a hit film with I Hate Love Stories. Asin may have had a superhit with Ghajini, but she has to prove herself again despite the super success of Ready. As for the actors, it is easier for them and actresses have it so much harder.
How many FILMS should it take to prove YOURSELF? If 10 films go by and still no hit movie, I think it is time to throw in the towel. Please share your thoughts. šŸ‘

Why does proving yourself has to be about hits? I think if you show great/good acting in your first film even if it flops...you proved yourself that you can act.

And since when did Kat proved herself? lol...I like this girl...but am being honest here...I have yet to see a film where critics said this girl can act..or even members on this forum or the public. If your taking about hits..than def she proved she can give hits.

Totally agree with what Lensa said.
A hit doesn't mean you have proved yourself. Acting is what proves everything. Just because a movie is hit doesn't mean one is a good actor and just because a movie isn't a hit doesn't mean one is not a good actor. Hits don't mean much when it comes to "proving yourself"...hits are just a cherry on the top. Acting first.

What hits give you is popularity and hype...like with Sonaski...she barely did anything in dabangg...but look where she is today.

everyones different, everyone has their own pace...

saif and akshay were almost b grade actors for an entire decade before the 2000's happened and they did films like DCH, namaste london, Omkara, bhool bhulaiyaa, hera pheri etc...

It took hrithik around about 5 years to get out of his flopathon and deliver a hit "koi mil gaya" after his smashing debut..

it took ranbir kapoor just one film to prove himself as an actor and a star, and he hasnt looked back since then...

Some are lucky enough to establish themselves earlier on, while it takes some others ages to get to where they are today...just a matter of luck and being at the right place at the right time..

I think the OP is asking about hit films...but that is a matter of luck and having an Aamir Khan mind which also depends on if you were born with such a mind LOL!

If it's about acting...it varies...some people start off really bad...Saif, Karisma e.g. but with time they improve and do great (time can vary from debut to a decade). Some people never improve like Abhishek! Some people debut really well (acting, hit films) and then quickly fizzle out for some reason or the other! Some people debut well and then stay there (Aamir e.g.) Depends depends!

I am talking about acting and hits to a certain extent! Sorry if it was unclear! A few hits are important, but not the deciding factor if you have proved yourself. An actress doesn't need to have numerous hits like Kat has done. An actress can have a few hits, but acting is what will make you prove yourself in the long run. Tabu is the perfect example. Most of her movies were not hits, but it was the acting that got her through in the beginning!!! 😃
