If it's about acting...it varies...some people start off really bad...Saif, Karisma e.g. but with time they improve and do great (time can vary from debut to a decade). Some people never improve like Abhishek! Some people debut really well (acting, hit films) and then quickly fizzle out for some reason or the other! Some people debut well and then stay there (Aamir e.g.) Depends depends!

I strongly disagree. If it has to do about hits/flops, then yeah he is still struggling, though his hit ratio has improved.

But he is a good actor. Guru, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Dostana, Dum Maaro Dum, Bluffmaster, Naach, Bunty aur Babli, Yuva are enough examples. Why all that. The only actor who stood out in KANK and got recognition in that disastrous film.

I think of your first 5-6 films, you should have positive reports on at least one film. Then it's great. For example, Aishwarya had 2 Filmfare Best actress awards by the time she completed her first 5 films. In her case it was very quick! Actresses like Kareena, Priyanka took their time to deliver their best in 2007 and 2008 respectively. But actresses (!!) like Katrina, Sonam never had anything to prove. So I don't think they'll ever have some landmark performance.

Well .. how long it takes to prove yourself depends on whose son/daughter/girlfriend or how sexy ms universe/world are you?

seriously .. the first film is the most important film for anybody who is not a star-kid or gf or a beauty queen .. they have to be good or atleast impressive otherwise most of them are written off then and there with no more chances to prove yourself .. others like Abhishek B get chances for 10-20 years to prove themselves ... and some like Kareena keep yo-yoing between good, bad, worst acting just like her weight .. so u'd never know what she is proving to be .. good actress or a bad one .. so you never know how long will she take to prove what

Ideally if there is a spark and talent .. it should be visible in the first film like for Ranbir, Kangana,Anushka,Deepika .. others like Katrina/Sonakshi/Sonam keep trying to improve with every film but honestly you never understand what they are improving upon except their dresses/weights/surgeries

I think proving yourself in a short amount of time requires not only talent but luck and hits too...and also intelligence and careful planning of your career. Starting in a right films gets you there. Like Anuska for example, she has talent, but if she hasn't done BBB today, I don't think she would have had a chance to prove herself. I remember on this forum many members saying she is done and fizzled out after the SRK movie. But it took one movie to bring her back on the map.

I see a lot of dislike towards Junior Bachan...I guess because he is a Bachan. But I think he is talented, he is just lazy and doesnt push himself. He was great in Dostana like someone mentioned. I liked him in a lot of movies.

I don't think being a star son or daughter helps you prove yourself. It's just that they constantly get many chances because of who they are. Like Junior Bachan. The guy doesnt have the fan following that SRK and Salman have. Even Ranbir's fans are more than his. On this forum and many critics think he still hasn't proved himself even if he is a star's son. There are many articles that came out saying he should quit. At the end of the day, it's your talent that helps the actor prove themselves, not who they are related to.

I totally agree. Don't think Jr Bachchan would've sustained 11 years in the industry without talent. Yes, he's lucky that he's a Bachchan but he is talented too. What happened to Tusshar Kapoor? His dad was a big actor. His sister owns a production house. He debuted 10 years before, but still he is a failed actor. Yes, having connections does help! That's how he landed a lead role as a hero in his first films. But he was not talented enough... now he rarely does movies or gets recognition... plus he only gets insignificant roles in movies.

Or Uday Chopra. He kept getting breaks with his home banner Yash Raj Films. He failed to prove himself and he had to quit!

So the bottomline is - yes, having connections helps. But you have to have more than that to survive at the top in this competitive industry.

I believe as a star (celebrity) it is very important to believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself then no hit or flop can make or break you! You shouldn't have to "prove" yourself worthy. You're in the industry for a reason. If you're acting is good, fans will follow without a doubt. If your acting is not good its as simple as practice makes perfect. Nothing is impossible in the world. With dedication, commitment, and hard work the impossible becomes possible. An actor/actress/singer etc must believe in themselves above all. And if they are sincere about their work they will not have to prove themselves at all. Their stardom will rise on its own!

It depends on the roles to prove youself to be a versatile actor.
It depends on the box office record to prove how commercially successful u r. It really depends on wat u want to prove lol.
