Manu was suffering from Multiple personality disorder. Was upset by his wife and GF deserting him.
There was Sidney Sheldon book - Tell me your dreams...where the lady would just turn into someone else in order to change what had gone wrong in her life.
(There are other movies too...Anniyan in Tamil, Bhool Bhulaiya and all)
When they get this attack of changing into someone else, they don't remember what they did.
Manu turned into Ramesh because he was not happy with what was happening in his life. He wanted to put an end to it, so killed his servant, GF and almost killed his wife. He would probably have even killed himself in that state.
