Why is everyone against Raichands buying the land

Ok i get it it's harmful to the environment but when the Khuranas bought the other side or w.e no one cared but why now? If they want to be good people or w.e, why don't they save the other part too. Khurana's part is also dangerous to the environment but no one cared but all the sudden "save our land" but only for the Raichand's part. Btw Jay's mom sounded like an hypocrite when she gave the student's side

As far as I understood from the show, the students are protesting because that land was Mount college land and was sold by the college authorities... and students didnt want that land to be sold for whatever XYZ reasons... so my understanding is that they are agitating because it was the college land and that way there is a connection... remember Misha going to the office room while the staff is out for lunch to find out who bought the land..
