Backgrounds not checked?

I can't understand one thing..after watching today's episode,where Ratan mentions to Ram,that she can't leave mumbai job and go to such a village or live that kind of dabbang lifestyle...didn't she find out abt the grooms earlier..like didn't the channel and Ratan narrow down the searches to the grooms she liked most and then choose..seems so weird and funny that she says all this now..so didn't she know abt them earlier? why were they shortlisted,on what basis? I am sure,if she knew the background,she would have said a no.Don't we find out abt the boys and then do the marriage talks after we are satisfied?
