They got a lot of money back from satellite rights. And for an outdated film, it did average business it didn't flop...that's amazing to me. No one expected to do well. When was the last time an outdated film didn't flop? Most of them flop. MM did below average and recovered it's cost with satellite rights and soundtrack sell too I guess. It's pretty amazing what shahid and kareena pairing will do to an outdated film. ;)
