Akshara's Column: Pleasantly surprised and loving it!!!

Hello friends, I had a scary experience this week. As you know Gayatri Ma had sent me shopping with Nikhil and Rashmi, for their wedding outfits. Nikhil and Rashmi insisted on choosing Nikhil's sherwani themselves, so I had no choice but to wait.

Later, I looked for them but could not find them anywhere!! As expected, Gayatri Ma was upset that I left Nikhil and Rashmi alone. I felt hurt with Gayatri Ma's words as I did not leave them alone intentionally. I wish she had understood the situation as I will never disobey her instructions on purpose.

However, Rashmi apologized to me later and I forgave her which made me feel better. Naitik too tried his best to cheer me up and I am glad he understood me and stood by my side.

I decided to forget the unpleasant incident and get ready for the exciting event coming up- my birthday. I was sure Naitik and the rest of the family must have planned something special for me. I just could not control my excitement and was looking forward to the gifts and celebrations in store for me.

However I can't tell you how disappointed I was when Naitik informed me that he would be busy on my birthday. My dreams were crushed as I was hoping to spend the whole day with him. However, I tried to hide my disappointment and agreed to the dinner plan. Later, I heard Naitik speaking about some special arrangements. I got excited again hoping that Naitik was planning something for me, but once again I was disappointed after finding out the plans were for clients.

Besides this I also noticed that everyone at home was behaving strangely and I could not help but wonder what was wrong with them. I got suspicious and felt that everyone is trying to hide something from me but could not figure out the reason - that really left baffled.

Finally my birthday arrived and I was not in a good mood. To top it, Naitik informed me that he has to purchase saris for someone and wants me to accompany him. I felt hurt and refused but the family started behaving strangely and coaxed me to go with Naitik. Again I got suspicious and questioned Naitik what this is all about. It would not be wrong to say that I jumped with joy after Naitik finally revealed to me that we are actually going for a trip to Mount Abu. I could not control my excitement and rewarded Naitik with kisses on his cheek. It was so sweet of him to plan this trip and it is commendable that he managed to keep it a surprise for so long and I did not even guess. I absolutely loved the surprise and thinking of that moment still makes me giddy headed.

I have to say the trip turned out to be quite eventful and that I will remember it forever. First the car broke down and we had to take a bus, then Naitik realized that he had forgotten his wallet in the car plus a car splashed dirty water all over my dress. But I didn't let anything dampen my spirit. I enjoyed every moment as I was happy to be with Naitik. I also relived my childhood by riding a bicycle and convincing Naitik to join me too.

This was not the end of it, there were more surprises in store for me later in the evening and I was on cloud nine. Naitik chose to celebrate my birthday in an innovative way. Instead of the usual cake, he arranged for decorated watermelon as he serenaded me with a birthday song. And that was not all - he even gifted me a lovely pendant. After all this I was left smiling from ear to ear.

I then asked Naitik for another gift - one that means much more to me than all material things. I asked him for a bundle of joy that I would carry in my arms on my next birthday. He promised me that my wish will be fulfilled.

Friends I have to admit, this one has been my best birthday ever. What can be better than spending your birthday with the person who means the world to you and when he plans so many surprises for you, it is the icing on the cake isn't it?
