Leading Bollywood production house Dharma Productions, owned by Karan Johar, has reportedly bagged the Hindi remake rights of multiple award winning Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu, directed by debutant Salim Ahmed.
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan is likely to play the role essayed by Salim Kumar in the original. The Hindi version will be directed by the original director Salim Ahmed.
Adaminte Makan Abu recently bagged four National Awards and one State awards, while its lead actor Salim Kumar was adjudged the best actor at both the National and State levels for his outstanding performance as Abu, who has been dreaming of performing the holy pilgrimage to Mecca despite severe financial constraints.
