If you guys have seen last year's classic movie, Parineeta, starring Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan, you would notice the startling similarities between Saif's character Shekhar and Jai and also a lot of similarity between Vidya's character Lolita and Bani!
Shekhar Rai in the movie was spoilt, obstinate, arrogant, egoistical yet loving, warm, child-like and a loner!
Jai Walia in Kasamh Se is uncanninly similar, mature from outside, a complete child from inside, extremely arrogant in behaviour, humble in character, egoistical and obstinate in his views, yet understanding and warm by thought.....
Lolita in the movie was the archetypical Indian girl, maternal, full of goodness, compassionate, understanding and loyal, yet extremely self-respecting and independent!
Bani is a ditto copy of Lolita's character except that Lolita was more spirited and lively, while Bani is extremely docile and subdued!
Shekhar was palpably and desperately in love with Lolita but could never realize the fact himself......
Lolita was dedicatedly and devotedly in love with Shekhar and realized the same, but her self-respect refused to let her confess it.....
Their relationship remained stagnant till a third person (Sanjay Dutt's character Girish) came between them causing immense jealousy and insecurity in Shekhar which ultimately leads him to confess his love for Lolita....
The third person in Kasamh Se is none other than Roshini who will lead to Bani getting jealous and Jai getting insecure....which might ultimately lead them to confess their feelings for one another!
Also, remember how jealous and upset Lolita gets when Shekhar unwittingly praises Gayatri (Dia Mirza) in front of her.....somehow reminds me of Bani's reaction when Roshini flirts with Jai in front of her....😊
The only difference being that Shekhar and Lolita knew each other from childhood and never loved anyone else except one another while Jai and Bani know each other only for the past few months and they have both loved other people passionatley....
What say? If anyone of you has seen Parineeta, please do post your views on the similarities!
Love,
MT
