I knew that Abhay will be having his beauty sleep for sometime , but I actually never thought I am going to miss him so much on the show that am going to forward most of the chunks of the episodes. Only because there is no Abhay. I mean , I adore Piya and Misha , I like the changed Kabir , I find the new T and the hottie Jai intriguing. The story is interesting , seriously and its moving - all is good but it seems like the show is handicapped and the central thread is missing. Abhay's absence is so starkly unsettling that you actually want to jump up and down on Piya's head to just chuck the frills and spoon-feed and get on with her Abhay business.
I think i understand the reason. PKYEK was always supposed to be Piya's story and from her POV. But when the screenplays got locked, the episodes got shot and the show went on air , the creatives ended up creating such a powerful and sensitive character in Abhay that PKYEK became more or less his story. Look back at the show - you have seen most of the show from his POV and identified more with him - be it feeling sorry for him , loving him or feeling like beating him with frying pans. It is a creative blunder , actually , because Indian soaps are always the female protagonist's story- but here , there has been a role reversal. Remember we have had so many discussions about creatives not working that hard on other characters as they did on Abhay? This is the reason that even though the show has so many interesting characters being portrayed by good actors , nothing seems to make up for Abhay's absence.
I know that going by the story demands , you cannot just spray mineral water on Abhay's face and make him sit up. But if the writers think about it, they can still keep Abhay without waking him up. Put him in fresh flashbacks , put him in the presence that Piya feels and above all, show his side of story through Maithli , Chaand-Haseena, werewolves. Don't just keep him in musical backgrounds and everyone's mind who talk about him as though he is some kind of a legendary phantom.
We all miss you, Abhay. 🤗
P.S- I have a NO COMMENTS approach on actors as it is always the character for me. And its after a long long time, I have an attachment to a character. For me, Abhay runs this show because he is the genesis of the story. And I truly miss him , even though i understand the hands of the writers are also kind of tied.
