For the last three years i hav been supporting Mumbai n KKR... 😛 I support Mumbai just becoz Sachin is there n KKR becoz they r my neighbor city n sumwr bcoz the team is owned by SRK !!! 😆
This year actually the World Cup win has minimized the amnt of interest i used to hav during IPL... i really am not supporting anyteam...!!!! 😛 Sachin scored ton Mumbai lost i was not upset... or i kept telling myself am not...i did not see the post match session may be was lil disappointed... !!! 🤔
And the split in supporting team n watching games is just because its the battle of the regions like Chenna vs Mumbai Bangalore vs Delhi .... !!! 😛
I would stil say am REJOICING the world cup win n enjoying IPL as well..May the best team win !!!! :D
Keep-------------Smiling !!!!😊

Sachin, Kumble, Sourav, Lakshman & Dravid were founder members of their teams, and started off as captains. I doubt they were ever auctioned. For the 2nd auction this year, each team was allowed to retain up to 4 players, of which 2 had to be overseas if they retained that many, and MI retained Sachin, Bhaji, Malinga and Pollard. While Lakshman, Dravid & Sourav were let go.

I don't know about the 1st auction.
But Sachin could have been there for the 2nd auction IF MI wouldn't have retained him! DC is paying for letting Laxman go!

In fact, the way DD has let RCB, KKR and RR loot not just their foreign, but their Indian talent as well, is astounding! No wonder they were ripped apart in their first game, and haven't done well even after. Warner & Sehwag can't be expected to carry their bats through an innings. And Irfan Pathan being their #1 buy? Are you insane?

KP has been a worthless buy, since he's not available, and some others as well. Since this purchase is for the next 3 seasons, the franchises would have done well to not shop for replacements, unless the player is retiring. Incidentally, if a team has one overseas player injured - like PWI has Angelo Matthews, does that guy's replacement have to be another overseas player, or can it be an Indian?

To be true, I don't care about DD. Plus it was DD ki mistake to not retain players (except Sehwag), yeah? 😊
Plus I never said RCB "robbed" MI, just 2 players don't make MI a weaker team, just that I liked both of them! 😊
I was literally like IRFAN PATHAN, 2 million (not sure about the money he got)? Even Zak didn't get that much and this guy who hasn't played for months gets THIS MUCH? 😲
I don't know, but most of the teams have above 20 players so I don't think they need to bring in a replacement. 😊

Well, since MI & CSK were @ the top, they had every reason to retain as much as possible, in contrast to KKR, who had nothing to lose. CSK did what it could to retain as much as possible, losing Murli & Oram, while gaining Dwayne Bravo, while Mumbai did things the right way - retained Sachin, Bhaji, Malinga & Pollard. While retaining that core strength, they also became stronger by adding on Rohit Sharma and Andy Symonds. So they're better off @ the end, despite losing Zak & Saurabh Tiwari.

While teams like KKR and KXIP had no reason to keep any of their side, I'm surprised that DD retained only Sehwag. I think they should have held Sehwag, AB, Nannes and Warner, and try to retain as many of their outgoing players as possible. Instead, they've lost the cream of their overseas players to RCB, some of their good local strength to KKR (Bhatia & Sangwan) and others to other teams, like Collingwood to RR. The new squad has only one notable Indian batsman in Venugopal Rao, and among their overseas players, only Warner and Morne Morkel. The others who played today were just not impressive. Good that they beat PWI, but they'll find themselves totally outclassed by most teams.

For that matter, I'm even surprised that RCB let go of as much as they did. In addition to Kohli, I'd have thought they'd lock Steyn, Kallis and Praveen Kumar, and then do the rest of the auctions as they liked. Even RR, despite doing badly, used the players they could lock properly and kept Warne & Watson, and bought back Tait & Botha.

In short, CSK, MI and RR did the right thing by retaining as many as they could, KKR, KXIP and DC did the right thing by not locking back anyone, while DD & RCB totally lost the plot by overhauling their entire teams. Although RCB got the cream of some of the other teams - DD's overseas stars, KKR's Pujara & Langeveldt, and are probably in the same situation as last year. My prediction - DD will end up near the bottom, despite their win today.

Well this season I am supporting two teams. DC and RR. DC because I'm from Andhra. And RR solely because of Rahul Dravid. I have been an ardent fan of Rahul Dravid ever since I started watching cricket. I sometimes feel he's an underrated cricketer, but I wouldn't comment much on that. I was upset when he was removed from the ODI team, but I'm glad he's still a part of the IPL. I did get annoyed that Mallya didn't retain him for RCB, but that was his call. So yeah, in short I'm supporting RR just for Rahul Dravid and ofcourse, Ross Taylor, Shane Warne and Shane Watson as well :D

IPL-Your Loyalities...

I have a question in general - ain't all teams supposed to play every other team TWICE - once in each home ground? That's what I thought @ the start of the tournament, but turns out that that's not the case e.g. KKR will face PWI only once @ DY Patil on the 19th, and not once @ Eden.

Can anyone explain this?
