Hello SportsFanatics
After the stupendouse success of World Cup , India is again gripped by IPL! Now the question arises that who is your favorite team and Why I just want to know how we actually decide whom to support, as i find it pretty confusing . 😳
I am brought up in Delhi but Dhoni is my Favorite Cricketer. Sachin is an Icon and you cant ignore him if you are talking about Cricket. Then you realises what wrong Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli , Zaheer Khan etal has done so why not support them as well??
So all in all I am supporting almost every team participating in IPL😆, doesn't this take away the excitement ?where you suffer from SPLIT LOYALIY SYNDROME(I call it one😆)?
Moreover news are doing the rounds that KKR and whole of Kolkata is angry because the team has left out Sourab Ganguly. They are even slashing the ticket prices so that more people come to stadium to watch the match. Apparently only 25,000 went in to see the first match of KKR at their home ground while the capacity is around 68,000.
Its been said that this season of IPL is generating less crowd, less revenue and less interest amongst people as well? What is the reason in your all eyes...
Is it overdose of Cricket?
or
We all are suffering from Split Loyalty Syndrome?

Well, being from Kolkata, I've naturally been supporting my home team throughout the past three editions of the IPL. But this time around, I've decided to switch allegiances. You'd believe it's got to do with our hero, 'Dada', being left out, and yes, it is indeed so. We're one passionate and faithful city. 😆
Thus, RCB find themselves a new fan! I've always adored the city, and their roster looks good as well!
As for KKR, much of their fortune depends on SRK's legion of fans. 😆 Kolkata has not hosted any WC match featuring India, and thus I don't reckon it's an issue of cricket overdose in this part of the country atleast. For the rest, it's still early days of the tournament... the craze will soon pick up! ;)

Interesting topic!

I think I automatically feel a lot more passionate about the game when India is playing. I get extremely patriotic and virtually every match becomes a do or die for me lol. Seeing as it has only been a few days since the WC, I am still not quite over the fact that we won and that the cup is finally ours again after 28 years!

Coming to the IPL..I don't get why people support a team because of their owners? SRK fans supporting KKR just because SRK owns it? That's just stupid in my opinion. I LOVE Mumbai to bits, and so naturally I support Mumbai Indians although honestly this time round after the bids, all I knew is that Sachin is playing for Mumbai and had no clue about how players like Tiwary and Jayasuriya were no longer playing for us. I'm a HUGE Sachin fan so on that basis only, even if I did not come from Mumbai, I would still support Mumbai Indians. However, I do suffer from split loyalty syndrome too! :P It's so hard for me to support Yuvi while hoping that the captain that has grabbed India victory and brought that cup back home loses. At the same time I liked it when Mumbai were smashing RCB bowlers all over the ground but how could I possibly be happy to see Zaheer Khan been hit for consecutive boundaries when 2/3 weeks ago I was hoping he would be the highest wicket taker in the world cup? :(

So in my case yes I'm following the IPL but my passion for the Indian cricket team is no where near as much as it is for IPL and MI. I'd choose India beating Pakistan any day over Mumbai beating Chennai!😛

Maybe I'd appreciate the game a little more if cricketers that play for Mumbai also play for them in the IPL or else it's just players playing for records and more money. *sighs*

But still..go Sachin and go Mumbai! :)

If you ask me, that's the whole beauty of the IPL..

IPL is all about:

1.We get to see the dynamics of the players who once played for the same team now fighting it out from the opposite sides...

2.We especially get to see players from different international teams now striving for the same team...

3.Beautiful camera angles...You don't get this in any ICC matches...Its simply amazing and a truly a treat to watch...

4.Players on the field interacting with the commentators and many other such interesting stuff to spice up the matches...

And if you still have doubts, just check the Mumbai Indians Vs RC Bangalore match which happened y'day in Bangalore....😆

The non-Indian players from Bangalore team didn't know why their supposedly home crowd was cheering more for the opposite team...😆...Bangalore crowd was rooting for Sachin through and through and enjoying their own bowlers getting smacked all over the ground....And this is what the IPL is all about....We Indians don't really care for our own regional teams more than we care for the Team India and its players who play for our Nation....

It was so much fun to watch Bangalore cheering for MI's win against their own team....haha, who says Indians have no sportsmenship???😉😛...

Oh btw...even I was a bit miffed and heartbroken when I heard about Ganguly getting totally snubbed at the IPL2011 auctions...Such a disservice to the player..but such are the ways of the world today...The competition is cut throat and no one escapes from its cruelty except for the true legends like Sachin..

When I heard about it, I just wished he never put himself through it in the first place...

But SRK turned out to be such a bad businessman after all...Just by keeping Ganguly on his side, he would've had more people following his team...

Hello Ishaan...I want ask a question...is it really true that people of Kolkata deliberately not going to stadium to watch match because they left out dada? Honestly before Dhoni Ganguly was my favorite captain too..he had that aura that charisha which ruled the world cricket and rightly so...and giving him such treatment is totally uncalled for....nevertheless but for the game...i guess ganguly should come forward and should urge people to watch the match and support KKR..what you say?
Thus, RCB find themselves a new fan! I've always adored the city, and their roster looks good as well!
RCB is good but i like it because of Sidharth MAlaya...🤣 he is good loking hunk😳😆 jokes aside...the team is really good...but what about captain...Daniel Vettori?some what....i dont think its a wise decision...but you never know as most of the Sri Lankan players soon be packing their bags and then what would happen to Kochi and Deccan?? god bless them!

Hope that craze picks up i guess this happend in the last season as well when...people started taking more interest in it...during the knockout round...before that its tad bit long with every team have to play atleast 14 games each? correct me if i am wrong?🤔

Thats a quite an achievement and hats off to his dedication and spirit for the game👏👏.

@hindu4lyf...well i know its bit baffling that people support a certain team due to certain non cricketing reason but.. you cant blame them entirely😳...see our loyalities are already divided due to a reason or the other .Moreover when you follow someone you just automatically sway where they go or what they follow...that is why...we sometime buy a product when some celebrity promotes it?? i am sure even you must have bought something just because...your fav cricketer/actor/ icon is promoting it??😳😆
Btw....Jayasuriya reminded me something he said that Kings XI can not win a match in this IPL and if they can he would dance...so Gilchrist asked him to dance...while chatting with Ravi Shastri today...🤣
@Cricketfan1..yeah that Spider Camera is an awesome addition to this IPL . as far as cricketers and their loyalities are concerned... i think for a match or two even they are confused...😕😆 but being a professional sports person...this shouldnt come their way....just heard Gauti today he said...his is a kolkata boy being a Delhiite even i am not very happy with his statement. he should have given politically correct answer.😆
Now coming back to Ganguly fiasco...SRK said he has no say in the selection of the team or team composition...but its hard to digest. and there is no point bringing in the crowd in return with your startegy .
