"I would have been a lawyer if not an actor.

We have a qualified lawyer in our family who is not working at the moment. My mother, Seema Kapoor, is a lawyer academically, but has never got a chance to practice law as she got married once she completed her studies. She has completed her LLM and would have been a criminal lawyer, had she not married during her prime.

But today she has no regrets thinking about the past days and she is happy to be what she is now.

Being a lawyer by education, my mother did not force me to do something which I do not like and has always taught me to do what my heart says. She never forced me take up law as my subject also.

I came into this industry after I completed my college education wherein I did Sociology Honors. But being a Humanities student, Political science was an integral part of my study and it contained Law chapters as well. Since I had got a base in law, I could have actually continued my studies with law. But my heart told me to do something else.

Since I am a very adventurous person, I would have taken criminal law as my subject, if I had done my further studies and not got into acting. But at the same time I am not at all a 9 to 5 person who can sit and do mechanical work.

Today I have no regrets for taking up acting.

Talking of doing a role of a lawyer in television, it is quite impossible because such series are mostly episodic and I do not think I would do that. But I would love to do such a role either in a theatre or a film."
