Euthanasia in any form is vulnerable in a country like India, where human life matters the least. I am not sure whether Aruna wants to die or even is sure that she is living or even remembers what "normal" living is, 37 years is long time. I agree life should win, but who will define the life?
SC had toughest decision and I reckon they have taken the best route possible.

A nice topic u have opened Doe

Well i have read about Aruna for the first time...its really sad to know about her and the fact that shes been treated in the same hospital where she was raped..its DISGUSTING...i feel they shud allow her to die peacefully..well it does seem pretty mean but i dont think its useful living wen theres nothn left to live..

i feel the SC shud give a chane to live or to die...wat the patients wants to do is his/her choice. But if the patient is in a position to communicate its his/her choice but if they cant, then i think the family memebers or close relatives shud take a decision...I support the last part because there are times when a person does have a chance of recovering
For eg, Well there was a debate on euthanasia on NDTV recently and there a lady did mention abt this boy who went into coma due o some accident but then his mom was like a wont let him die and served him for almost 18 years and now that guy is happily married and enjoying life...so its all on the faith

So i feel that Govt shud give the right to die but the decision shud be taken by the patients if they are able to commnicate and if they arent by their relatives.

if a person is hell bent on dying he will die- right or no right ! can the govt or anybody else for that mater really stop anyone from dying provided he is determined enough to end his life and presuming it wasnt an impulsive decison? Even in case of euthanasia if a patient himself is determined to die there is little anyone can do about it, you cant possibly force someone to live unless he is completely comatose- thats the irony. But giving the right to the patients relatives to decide about his fate would be a tricky thing- we could term it as "right to kill" rather than "right to die". Perhaps terminally patients could write a request for mercy killing while they can.

Is it right to force someone to live against his will?
