Komal and Adarsh / Pratigya & Krishna :
The tragedy was both of them were correct in y'days sequence, Komal desire to eat what she wants , wear what she wants were all all the feelings of a normal Healthy Human ..and So was Adarsh's feelings when he does not want to hurt his family ..Both of them hail from an extended family , both have lived with member's of different temperament ..where this people differ is in their thinking while the Thakurs have paid attention to their children's desires and always satisfied their children's whims and fancies , The saxena' have ingrained the thought that the wishes of the elders were the law ..and a family will not cater to individual it is the case of greater good of great many.. The sax are the followers of Utilitarianism and their thinking is warped around it ..So It would be natural for Sax to expect Komal to kow tow their line ...
FLIPSIDE
If the Sax expect Komal to follow their principles and expect her to eat out and satiate her cravings for Non-Veg ..then what would happen if Amma were to enforce that Pratigya should eat the Non-veg since it is their principles and she must become part of the Thakurs { I am well aware that Pratigya serves the Nonveg , she has overcome the initial revulsion, as I said it is the flip side ]..So far I have not seen any Members of Thakurs making snide comments when Pratigya refuses to eat Non veg
THE TWO BAHUS
One would be all praise for Pratigya and deride Komal for her selfishness ..Here again let me present two views..
Pratigya during the course of her stay has borne many abuses,both mental and Physical ..She has withstood this dastardly acts and handled them with dignity and courage ..She could afford to be so bec she had a oasis in the form of GD and Kesar ...above all she was backed by her husband who stood for her most of the times going against his own family ..Krishna was the shield, he bore the brunt many a time ...contrast this with Komal..
Right from day one, Komal has always been treated as a smelly garbage that has been dumped on their lap.She is treated with condescension when she stands up for them against the Mighty Thakur's..is patted on the head when she does something that they approve of [ sometimes running contrary to their avowed principles] ..in the next instant will be sent to Doghouse , if she dares to say some inconvenient truth ....Pratigya as we well know has been a victim of emotional and physical abuse whereas Komal has been the victim of Psychological abuse ..She has been constantly derided, has been unfavorably compared,looked down on, treated like a clown brought in for their entertainment..but never once has she been treated like a daughter in law of the house ..There always would be the unsaid factor that she is a Rowdy's daughter ..To compound her misery, she does not have a secondary support in the form of loving member nor the primary support of her husband who invariably is the first to shut her up...is it any wonder that she has turned into a virago, a shrew..
KESAR,SHAKTHI, ARUSHI :
quite an interesting scene , Shakthi saying that he still does not like her but has come back to her and when contrasted with I'll take care of everything and his comparison to bull and quite aptly Aarushi deciding to come out of her exile ..
Does this mean that Shakthi pursuing Aarushi is imminent ..and this time around he will 'take care' of it and Kesar will become the mute Cow that Shakthi clearly expects her to be or will she become the Tigress again
or is it that Kesar will defend her Bull like a good Cow and may drift away from Pratigya to save her hearth !!
The TALE OF TWO PARENTS
Yesterday also cast a reflection on the behavior of the two sets of parents ..in the first case ..SS sees his hurt daughter , reacts to her pain...tells her to take rest ..and immediately calls the source of his daughter's sorrow , coaxes,cajoles warns, threatens Adarsh and orders him to come pronto... SS is looking worried while Komal's Mother is concerned,sympathetic and all solicitation .. They want to to know the reason for Komal's distress and alleviate it ......whereas
Adarsh is searching for Komal , calling out to her and as a last resort asks his Mummy..Mummy coolly tells him that Komal might have gone out ...Not one glance at his worried face, not once the realization that Adarsh is troubled by Komal's disappearance..The moment he leaves the scene ..It is business as usual and this is the woman who was flooding the Kitchen cos Adarsh ate Apple.. and as for Papa ..he might as well be on the Moon..such was the reaction from him..
PRATIGYA"S REACTION
Krishna comes all excited and invites Pratigya to come with him ..but Pratigya refuses ..to come ..A Gesture which would give rise to many explanation ...
If One sees it purely in the context of Hubby and wife relationship ...Then Pratigya erred by not going with Krishna ..A Krishna who has realized the error of his ways, Is taking baby steps towards becoming a responsible man ..A Krishna who considers her the whole galaxy and is in need of her approval..By Choosing her Brother over her Husband..Pratigya clearly showed who matter to her the most ...This act could act as a icy shower on Krishna , may even decrease his enthu ..
But when one See Pratigya not only as a woman of Thakur's but also as a Child of saxena's ..It would be Krishna who comes across as an Insensitive lout , here is a Woman, HIS woman , who has witnessed her FIL intimidating her own flesh and Blood, She knows that her brother is a soft Guy and may wilt under the anger of the Thakur's ..She knows that She is needed there as a moral support to her Brother yet Krishna expects her to discard her concern and anxiety for her brother and just saunter over to inspect a site which is not going to run away ...Should we praise Krishna's single minded focus,his refusal to be diverted from his aim or should one give him a strong Dishum, dishum and get him to realize that his wife is worried and may not be able to contribute anything positive at all..
The Third explanation is when One sees Pratigya as a Bahu of the Thakur's..The daughter of the House has come home under a cloud, she is accusing Pratigya's brother of ill treatment , a charge which Pratigya knows that cannot be correct, She needs to stay in the house , get to know the truth and if the accusation's are true then advise her brother both in the role of his sister and as Komal's Bhabhi ..Second..AS I mentioned , A distraught and angry daughter has come...Amma is worried and pained and all the women have surrounded Komal and are offering their support and sympathy to Komal and If Pratigya were to shrug off Komal's deeds as Noutanki and go out with Krishna ...It will come across as a selfish, uncaring act ..Such attitude will only serve to widen the chasm and some good souls like Kesmma might use this to their advantage ...By Not going Pratigya has averted this
