Hey guys its me Ashu again. Though not with a FF now. Just an incident to share which happened today.
It was Sunday. Another day meant for lazing around. But unfortunately not for me. I had a lecture and had to go to college.
On Sunday.
I returned back. Tired. The travelling took a toll on me always. But I had to bear it.
It was around 4 or 4:30 that I decided to have my lunch. But just having lunch would be no fun. So I decided on reading Twilight too. Bad habit? I know. Hehe but cant help it.
I was reading about Bella' s almost accident and Edward rescuing her when I realised that my plate was empty and I had to get another filling.
I was about to get up when I experienced a sudden pain in my eye and unexpected tears grazed my cheek. I dabbed my eye with my dupatta and turned to go when I felt my right vision blurring.
Maybe the lenses got misplaced or something.
I helped myself with the third helping (foodie, am I? A big yes!) when I realised I could not help it any longer. The pain was unbearable. I kept my plate on the table, washed my hands throughly and took out the solution and the lens case from my bag. I tuched my eyeball when it pained again as though I put spices in my eyes.
Something clicked.
I immediately closed my left eye and tried looking with my right eye.
Faraway things were a bit blurry.
Vision I would see without my lenses or specs.
It could mean only one thing........
My contact lens had fallen!
I acted as fast as I could. I removed my left contact lens and wore my specs. Stylish, rimless glasses. That made me look good instead of some incorrigible geek.
I searched for my lens.
Gently dabbed my palm on the ground to feel something odd.
Nothing.
I looked on the table. Maybe it fell there when I was dabbing my eyes.
Nothing.
I traced my path back to the kitchen. All the way looking for something shiny.
Something plastic like.
Something of fibre.
Something spherical.
Nothing.
I now panicked.
NO! this cant be happening.
Its been only a week since I got my lenses.
Only 2 years since I became a specko.
NO!
I frantically searched the whole room and half the house.
I prayed my dad wouldnt ask me anything. I couldnt lie to him.
I pressed my cheek on the ground and looked around.
Spherical.
Shiny.
Something odd.
Please!
Nothing.
Thousands of things roamed in my mind. Lenses cost a lot! What will I do? What will the doctor say? Being such a grown up girl and I couldnt look after my lenses? What will my friends say when they see my without lenses? They had been more excited than me when they had learnt I would be wearing lenses to college. I rewinded my memory and thought how it all happened.
Pain. Dabbing with dupatta. Kitchen.
I replayed the whole sequence. Acting dramatically.
Still no luck.
Mom came and saw me searching for something.
She asked me what it was and I told her everything. Not looking in her eyes. She said very calmly that we would get it and started searching for it too.
But I knew her too well. She had panicked too. Or so I thought.
Tears threatened to spill out.
Ya Allah! Please! Please! Please!
I chanted in my mind.
More incredulous things surfaced in my mind.
Did I eat my contacts? Did I swallow them up while reading about Bella getting almost crushed under the truck?
I wanted to vomit right then and there.
I looked in the full size mirror and opened my mouth to check if it got stuck somewhere in my mouth.
Ugh! Nothing.
Ya Allah! Please, please, please!
I contiued my search. Then told mom about what I though.
She looked at me with raised eyebrows and checked my plate.
"Did you seriously swallow it along with the pickle?" She chuckled.
"I have no idea."
She left the plate as she knew I was being silly.
Swallowing my contacts? Urgh! No way!
It was time and she proceeded for Asar namaz. I continued my search.
I went again to the kitchen. I didnt put on the light.
Something shiny caught me eyes.
With a hope building up and a curtain in one hand I picked it up.
It was my lens!
Ya Allah! Thank you soooooooooo much!
But it looked sort of crumpled and oddly shaped at the sides.
Did a rat eat it? But we dont have rats in our house.
Anyways, I put a few drops of solution and washed it. It now became soft.
Oh! Thats why we have to keep lenses in the solution.
I thanked Allah a lot and continue doing so. I also know that now my contacts are safe.
I looed at the time.
It had been 15 or 20 mins since I had began my search.
Alll my thoughts seemed silly now.
Eating up my contacts....
My mom looked at my face and she understood that I found it. She gave a wide smile too.
I am now at peace with both the contacts safe in the case.
A case of lost and found
I thank Allah for everything. Indeed He is the one who provides us with all the things. We should never forget Him.
Would want to know what you thought of it. 😆 Now I think it was pretty hilarious.
N all my FF writer friends, I know I'm being horrible at pressing you to send PMs but not replying. I'm very sorry! Its just that I'm so tied down that I manage to read the parts but not comment on them. Sorry! But be sure I read them and love them😃
