Somebody made the distinction between family and relatives and I think that that is a great point. It is totally Kareena's choice where she goes, why she goes and with whom she goes or if she goes. The Kapoor Khandaan can get stuffed if they get angry if she cannot make a family function.
But the story of abandonement by the Kapoors of Karisma and Kareena is a sobstory job that Babita has put out and the Kapoors have neither denied nor accepted.
Ok, I am a lot older than most of you on this forum so I remember things differently when it comes to Babita and Randhir. Babita was in a relationship with a married Ranjeet prior to getting married to Randhir, and this was the reason why Raj Kapoor was not happy about the marriage and the stipulation that Babita not work in movies after marriage. Oh, I remember lots and lots of articles on Babita and Ranjeet together with pics in the Stardust and Filmfare magazines - this was not like the Amitabh / Rekha relaptionship where everyone speculated - there were pics of them coming out of hotels and so on. Babita left her marriage for Ranjeet and up until Karishma getting into movies, these two were seen together.
The Kapoors are no angels, Ok, except maybe Shashi(nuts about him), but the fault is not entirely theirs when it comes to the two girls being alienated from their father and his family - just as big a responsibility lies with their mother. If Babita felt like her children were being treated differently from the other Kapoor grandchildren both affectionately and financially, then it was her duty to go to the law and gain their rightful dues both from their father and from the family. We are constantly hearing from her daughters about how much she gave up for them......some-one ought to let these girls know that that was no great sacrifice that she did and not to feel guilty as that is what all we mothers do...do the best for our children, sometimes acting as both mom and dad without putting this load of guilt on our children's delicate shoulders and making them bear the brunt of sacrifice all their lives.
I am glad that Kareena is outspoken and independant and has Saif on her side - she seems to have slipped from her mother's "doting" arms, whereas Karisma still seems caught up in it.
