See.....we all agree.....that it is so unrealistic......so duh!!!

Well, let's understand serials for what they are.......You know, so many years back......there used to be an English serial/soap called Santa Barbara..... I was in college then.....my mom used to be so hooked to it..... she barely understood English......but she never missed a single episode..... And she hated Gina's guts....... The part-time maid (bai) would also sit there and watch the serial (not knowing A WORD of English)..... then my mom and she would discuss the episodes and what would happen the next day and HOW evil Gina was...... they loved to hate the main villain......they always said the same sentence every day " KUCCH BHI DIKHATE HAIN"...... and yet....
We are all still there.....each person for their own pet serial.....
Which is why the target audience for the serial is the committed viewer......one who watches each day......waits for the pre-cap.....then, waits for the next episode......hates or loves......atleast one character in the serial......ALWAYS HATES THE CV"S........and always says....."KUCCH BHI DIKHATE HAIN"...... When they go to absurd lengths and go too far ...... .they lose this viewer .....then it is the death of the serial.....
Imagine you have 2 neighbours......one who is very ordinary and normal......the other who is constantly yelling at her nalayak husband and even more nalayak children...... who dresses up garishly and fights with the sabjiwala and watchmen......who are you going to hate????.... who are you going to discuss with other women in the society?????......
It is the same thing with serials......if they showed too much reality.....it is boring......it is not worthy of discussion or interest......just like the first neighbour.....you say hello/hi and go to your own homes......similar to changing channels......
Coming back to the topic.......of simplicity......
In this serial they have used it so many times.......eg...
They showed Savita as the eternal bad woman in the beginning......then when everyone hated her guts......they showed her 'loving' Archana (putting blanket on her etc....)......and the whole nation fell in love with Ushaji.......They did that with Ajit......People hated him.....and then loved him as the good guy...... So, people loved Dharmesh.......and then......and so, now Manav......the dutiful son who neglects the mother.......who puts wife before mother....etc....
They showed a quick fix with Archana when she went away for 1 year...... and came back SO QUALIFIED....... if it was so easy.......then the whole world's illiteracy problems could be solved.....give me the address of that place in Bangalore.......it's a gold mine.....
So, moral of the story is......we can't get too involved......if you love or hate a character too much...... or curse the cv's all the time....... or feel that this serial is too far away from reality....... Then, chances are that this serial is in the top 5 positions......and you are a committed viewer forming its target audience.......Enjoy....

Malinn Generally it is true abt the serials and viewership..and hardcore fans..They basically watch serial for their favorites...Not the case with MOI...I watch it for what it is each day and write..
I was never PR viewer until I went to India during dec 2009..Caught few episodes here & there..Loved Savita for who she was...Mean, loud, but funny...I used to laugh at every scene...My hubster even loves her 😃 One day logged on and read Hope's samachar patra and Tanya's updates, Than came Kools Commentary, Sid and Set Raj's funny topics, Shikhar's romantic or funny poetry, Niki's FF, and many other topic...I got hooked on to reading this section...Serial was the last thing..Rest is history..
Than I started watching PR due to my interaction with all members in PRland..The friendly atmosphere which brought me to this land to debate or give my candid and uncommon views....
Not sure by definition where I fit in...Now this section has nothing to read but Tanya's updates and SOTD, FOTD...Fun is gone atleast for me...Nothing really to discuss..😳
Hoping fun will return someday and soon..Miss my sweet, innocent and lovely young Umayal..I love reading her such a honest and mature posts..Very mature young lady yet so respectful..

Di that is the Power of Shakkar Philosophy 😛..
Now we need to see how Karela Philosophy works..
But the promos of ME does not look good to me..
Savita Aai's pallu caught fire after Archana lock her up in the kitchen
I hope everything will be fine between Archana and Manav.. I dont want them fighting like others.. They are sweet couple who understand each other so well..

Very nice reply Varsha......And this was a generalisation.....so, there are many exceptions......Once upon a time, I was a 'committed viewer' myself for PR.....

Earlier I was one of those who used to think serials are for women who have nothing to do......used to never understand what my mother saw in them..... used to try and watch a few episodes here and there with her......but was always critical (I still am......I am a contradict....always......😡).......
Then, when I was expecting, I started watching PR......and was hooked.....Like crazy.....Then, when we moved country, I missed a few epsodes......and never could go back...... I do watch other serials though......But, now am always very objective about them......And as always very cynical too.....
Like you, I would read the written updates and Kool's commentary (really hilarious especially her naming of people.....and stuff like sapne poore etc) regularly.......never made friends like you though......its usually in and out for me.....I critique here and there.....I always like the idea of trying to look at things from a point of view differing my own..... I love a good debate.....I love opposing views....My father used to call me "The Great Contradictor"....
I get the gist of what you said.....And yes, I hope the fun returns to this forum......

Lol, picturing savita pouring her emotions out to a therapist is hilarious! It's ok, the great social worker/psychologist Archana is on the case. I can't quite remember what she went to Bangalore for training for, but perhaps she minored in psychology. 😉 and if we're talking simple solutions, bhavna's got one for varsha-- not Invitro or any other medical solution, but I'm thinking good old fashion souten.
