Tonight, yet another star will be made! Besides the coveted title, he will get a recording contract with Sony BMG, a contract worth one crore with Sony Entertainment Television, a guitar presented by last year's idol Abhijeet Sawant and a brand new car!
With stakes this high, naturally, for both, the adrenaline is running high. NC Karunya has the judges smiling. Sandeep Acharya is leading in audience votes. Competition couldn't have been fiercer. But neither is ready to let it affect their camaraderie. "In fact, it has brought us closer," reasons Karunya. That Abhishek Bachchan is rooting for his look-alike is the biggest compliment for Karunya.
They are enjoying their quasi-celebrity status to the hilt though. "Can't believe I am famous! In Bikaner, my friends were amazed that I didn't acquire any starry airs," laughs Sandeep. But somewhere anxiety creeps in. "I get appreciation, but lag behind in votes," worries an otherwise effervescent Karunya. On life without the Indian Idol tag, Karunya is "clueless", whereas Sandeep can't think of going back without winning.
Here's some good advice: Abhijeet believes that though one of them would win, nobody would be a loser. Amit Sana, last year's runner-up, agrees, "When you lose one battle, you are ready to win a bigger battle. I have found a genie in the form of Indian Idol. People are ready to give me a break, and the audience still remembers me." Clearly, it's a win-win situation!
Tonight at 8 pm, catch all the action live on Sony Entertainment Television as celebrities from television, music and film industry, and last year's finalists Rahul Vaidya, Amit Sana and Prajakta Shukre join in to celebrate the crowning of Indian Idol 2. Voting lines will be open till 8.40 pm tonight.
