Everywhere I read posts emphasising Geet's kindness and generosity in forgiving her culprit. And stupid me was expecting justice. Well I cant really blame myself, that's how show promoted itself,a girl's fight for justice, equality and what not. If only they had told that it is all about virtue of forgiveness,I would have sticked to Ekta Maiyya and Star Plus shows, whose leads are champions in this virtue. But to their credit even they dont forgive something this horrible.
To be fair I really did try to understand Geet's grounds for forgiveness. It was not blood donation, she was still mad. Then what, hall decoration and acting like a faithful pigeon, delivering Maan's sorry cards?? And what repentance Geet is talking about? His so called repentance is on for months now. He was already repenting before Geet met him in her engagement. He confessed his crimes to Maan, went to jail, divorced NT for his so called repentance. Why did not Geet display such generosity then. Why such hue and cry about justice all these months only to forgive him in the end?
Again I tried to accept her forgiveness and her need to put her bitter past behind. But I expected at least indifference. But Holi scene was the last straw. It was cringe worthy. To see a women who has been violated so cheaply, smilingly encouraging her culprit to put colour. And even worse putting tilak on his forehead. A tilak signifies respect, honour and blessings. Seeing a victim showering these on her culprit was sickening. And btw,on first holi after marriage, husband is the first to apply colour on the wife and wife puts tilak in return. So this ritual was completed with Dev instead of Maan.
At times like these first promos of Geet flash through my mind. How everyone was naming their daughters Geet and how she had set an example. I think we totally misinterpreted the the promo. We thought she would set an example by seeking justice, but actually she had to set an example by forgiving her culprit so whole heratedly that she would be celebrating Holi with him like nothing happened.
So the message is clear now, holding grudges is petty. Forgiveness is divine. And dont say that Geet is showing her self respect by leaving Maan. The way she stands up in front of her husband can never salvage the way she has bent down in front of her culprit.
At last I am posting some promos. Savour them for that is all we have left now... Besides it has become quite ironical now,and may compel you to laugh,or may be to cry.
